Using a hearing aid may delay cognitive decline

An interesting read.

…hearing loss is independently associated with the rate of cognitive decline in older adults.

… the rate of cognitive decline increases with the severity of hearing loss.

Our initial results suggest that instead of declining, cognitive function in older adults with hearing loss who use hearing aids can not only remain stable, but can even improve significantly over time.

I just received this reply from a friend that I directed to Costco for his first HA (in his mid-80s):

I’m hearing proof that, thanks to your advice, I have a device. Yes, I do think I think more thoughtfully.

It was one of the best purchases I’ve made — my wife appreciates it, too.

Old news but that’s what they claim. Now if only I can remember where I put my aids.
