Hello everyone. My name is Joe, nice to meet you guys.

I have a question or two about used hearing aids. I just got out of the Army back in November. While on active duty, the Army got me a pretty nice set of Phonak Audeo S Smart IX hearing aids with the icom and mypilot accessories. I didn’t have a choice. Anyways,I never use them, can’t stand the way they feel in my ear, and I’m no longer in the Army- my hearing isn’t so bad that I need hearing aids of this caliber anymore, so I’m looking for a place to sell them. I’m sure someone else would get more use out of these than I do. My problem is that I don’t know where to start. I’ve seen some discussions about people buying from ebay, but never selling. Any advice? I stopped at a couple of the hearing aid stores here in town to ask a few questions, but most of them just looked at me like I was a tweaker trying to hock some stolen hearing aids…

Anyways, I would appreciate whatever advice you guys could give.

(And I apologize in advance if I put this in the wrong forum or if this is a taboo/forbidden subject here)

if you didn’t need that level of aids I seriously doubt they would have issued them to you. I’m sure the Army didn’t expect you to turn around and sell them for a profit. I would be very interested in seeing your audio-gram. if anyone buys them and tries to have them adjusted or repaired they are going to come up as Gov issued. The n will need to be sent to ROES in Denver for repair.

Hi,

If you still have them for selling, please contact me at dorumac2006@yahoo.com

Thanks

I am interested in possibly buying some Phonak Audeo S Smart IX aids. Used aids would be fine as I don’t have a lot of money. Any info would be helpful. If you prefer, my email is: t@pobox.com; Thanks.

If you don’t need the money badly, consider donating them to someone in need locally.
Either via craigslist, or Lions club, etc.
I did that several years ago, they went to a minister who really appreciated them and
helped him with some issues with friction in his family life due to his poor hearing.
They would probably need to have new earmolds and programming but still way cheaper then buying aids.
The good feeling of helping someone in need may be much more rewarding than some dollars.

You could sell them on ebay but would only get a fraction of the retail value, maybe
about 500 to 1000 bux for a pair that are less than 3 or 4 years old.

Deafvet,

Thanks for the great idea. I am just buying my second pair, after 6 or so years with the first pair. I was wondering what to do with the old pair and will certainly donate them. After all, doesn’t anyone with hearing loss understand family friction due to poor hearing!?

Sell them on ebay. I’ve bought used and sold used hearing aids on ebay.
