Yesterday evening the speaker on my Right KS 10 suddenly died after 16 months of trouble-free performance! The microphone and BT services still functioned. I rebooted to no avail.
This Sunday morning, I went to the HA counter at COSTCO with low expectations. Instead, using the tools they have upfront for replacing and cleaning the ear cups … I thought I heard suction … the person at the counter magically brought the speakers back to life! I assume they were clogged, even though the wax filter appeared clean when I inspected it.
Regardless, don’t give up hope … and good on COSTCO!

They are good with that in general. Glad it worked out. I know for me - I had the same issue within the first couple weeks of having my aids, the wax filter getting clogged was something I still can’t really see, but when I notice a change I just replace them. They give free filters so it’s not a problem

New COSTCO opened near me - in Texas - a couple days ago. They do not sell the Kirkland aids anymore and the audi said that they have no idea whether COSTCO will contract with any HA manufacturer in near future. So now i am wondering whether the new over-the-counter HA’s are any good and would suffice for my wife’s slight hearing loss (age 73). But COSTCO is not selling them.

Costco’s other models (non Kirkland) are only a few hundred dollars more than the now discontinued Kirklands. You could approach this several ways. My first question is how do you know your wife has a “slight” hearing loss? Her or your impression or does she have an audiogram? If she doesn’t have an audiogram, I think that should be the first step. If you’re a Costco member, they’ll do one for free. Prices otherwise vary greatly. If your wife has an audiogram, posting it here can let us provide better feedback. To post, go to top of page, click on FORUM, then My Hearing Tests and enter the results. To summarize, you could 1)Go to Costco and get an audiogram and see what they recommend and take in any other feedback you get, 2)Try an OTC hearing aid 3)Seek a local audiologist/hearing aid provider. My leanings would be to stick with 1 or 3. 1 will likely be notably less expensive than 3.

Costco will also replace at no charge the speakers (strangely called receivers) if they are the source of a problem. A couple months before I bought my KS10’s they replaced a speaker that had a broken wire on one of my older KS7’s even though the aids were well out of warranty. This repair was done while I was shopping at the store (no appointment needed).

I still have the 7’s as a backup with a few batteries in a sealed bag in the refrigerator.

They’ll replace the receivers at no extra charge during the 3 year warranty period. They charge if the warranty has expired, although they may provide a grace period.

The thing that gets me is that using the Costco Visa to pay for the aids extends the warranty, and I have forgotten to exploit that when I’ve paid for receivers during the 4th year…

Glad to hear (!) of these gratis replacements of speaker (I assume with wire?)
But in my case it was almost certainly the simple removal by suction of an obstruction. I could tell because I could actually hear the the operation via bluetooth in my remaining HA while it was conducted … in an open fume hood behind the counter.
It took only one minute,
