Terminology for describing sounds

#1

I’m struck that a fair amount of the problem of getting hearing aids properly adjusted is a communication problem. Lay people use terms in different ways than an audiologist would. I’m wondering if anybody has a good reference for describing sounds. I found this link: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/describing-sound-a-glossary.220770/

but it’s more oriented at audiophiles than hearing aid users. I think it’s very important to communicate clearly with your audiologist. If you’re not really clear on what a term (occlusion for example) is, don’t use it. Use your own words.

I had four double shots of bourbon last night and I was like totally occluded.

My wife and I have a running joke that “we’re not failing to miscommunicate.”
