Starkey Edge AI doubts after Genesis dreadful experience

Looking at your audiogram your hearing in parts is a bit better than mine, it’s important to not as everyone is different.

Also your ear canal maybe wider than mine, what I am trying to say is maybe the aid CIC, may sit deeper so it works better for you…

With the CIC for me it was perfect in most situations Except in a noisy situation like for example in a large cruise ship main dining room fairly close to a wall but as a couple on a small table I had trouble hearing my partner talk…

And the same with a noisy situation with a group of friends… It did not work well, this was in Edge plus mode by the way…

Whereas with the ITC it was very good especially after REM was performed… Virtually all background noise was eliminated…

To be honest the only modes I used was personal and Edge, all the other modes were pretty useless apart from Auditorium which helped when I wanted to listen to music in the car - no passengers, if I use personal or Edge mode it would cut out the music no matter how loud I set it…

With reference to Bluetooth in general it was ok, quality of sound for me to personally was spot on tinniness like others have reported and I didn’t have any adjustments done for this… However I did have issues with if I had the phone in my jeans pocket it would cut out now and again but if I had it on the kitchen table I could go 5 metres away with a great reception… I have had this issue with lots of aids I demoed I think some bones are natural blockers for Bluetooth in HA’s and I think that is a disadvantage of MFI (the low energy part)

Also worth mentioning was the Multimic plus accessory, from the Bluetooth pov connecting to laptops for me it was a complete pile of rubbish, I mean you pay over £200 for this device and it won’t connect properly with your Windows laptop, maybe having the latest laptop might help but I had a three year old work laptop and it wouldn’t connect properly, I called Starkey about it and they said it was just one of those things, As a compromise they sent me the special lead so that you could connect to the laptop via the headphone jack, which worked but it didn’t have the three rings on the connector so two way audio was out of the question, hated that… Also my new Edge AI weren’t compatible with the genesis multi mic so that’s not great…

Anyway I’ve probably given you another consideration, and headache lol

Circling back here. Was there any Program that was best for music? I think music (and even movies) sounds bad with the Genesis CIC. Is the Music Program good? (I would need to add it and delete another).

I do agree it is not very good in noise; perhaps I need to try the ICC 2 mic version too.
