Hi all,

Happy to have found this forum.

I have some Siemens Micon 5s, which have come to end of life now after 10 years. I have been able to program an audio setting for music production of my own songs on my PC with as little compression and as wide a frequency as possible on my Hi Pro 2. I can stream using MiniTek with a wired connection from headphones.

Will I be able to get the same thing using the 7 AX Streamline Mic and/or TV Transmitter? If so what would be the cheapest solution. ASHA might be a limitation (supposedly works with my Samsung A53 phone, though)

I’m told 7 AX has the widest frequency range. I’ve got Hi Pro hooked up to Win 10 but it won’t recognise the Micons in Connexx 6.5 atm, presumably regarded as obsolete. I’m hoping I can port the settings across from Connexx on my Win 7 machine.

You could do Bluetooth with the signia streamline mic, unfortunately i don’t think there’s 3.5mm headphone jack.

Its not the best, but when it works it works well, drop-outs are the most commonly known issue.

So i wonder how you were able to program them before?
But regardless you should be able to connect as i believe the version 6.5 should be able to handle the micons, what cables are you using with your HiPro.

My PC doesn’t do Bluetooth…could a standard BT transmitter from the h/phone pair with the Streamline? Or the h/phone could go into the TV transmitter - not sure what Dolby does to the sound, though?

Cables to the battery compartments. This works on my ancient Win 7 laptop, but they are not detected on Win 10 even though the Hi Pro is reported to be on Com 3.

Yes i believe that could work,the streamline can connect to just about any Bluetooth device.

Yes, but i was wondering if you had the correct CS44 cables, which obviously you have.

Ok all you need to do in most cases is update the HiPro drivers for win10.

Great, thanks for confirming.

That means 2 lots of streaming. Mind you, e2e was the same with the Micons! Still Wondering if the TV streamer is also worth it.

I think I downloaded from that site. No idea if the drivers are 64-bit, though.

See here for your exact problem, its common issue when you want to use win10 with very old equipment.
What does devise manager show when you plug in the Hi-pro, another thing Hi-pro likes USB 2.0 port as well.

I will check when I am back home. The driver installation prompted me to update the firmware, which completed successfully via Com 3, so Windows does see it. But I can’t tell if Connexx can’t see the Hi Pro or the Micons, which are not detected.

Ok well when you get the chance
check the HiPro self-test (if its in version 6.5, can’t remember if it is, but a handy tool for checking)

OK, turns out I had Connexx 7 on Win 7 but 6.5 is from 2012 a year before the Micons. 9.2, Hi Pro2 & Micons works fine on Win 10 now!

Was thinking of going via Specsavers for the 7 AX, they do their own branded ones cheaper but restricted and not sure I can program them.

Shame they don’t have remote controls - opening a smartphone app all the time seems a bit of a pain. Plus I’ll have to decide whether I need TV Streamer and/or Streamline Mic to achieve what I want - another £350 potentially.

Great you got it up and running, you should however be careful with some of the specsavers versions, some are locked, i think the phonak versions but most likely all of them, ask them straight and find out.

I guess regardless of the brand/model you may need these anyway, they can of course be picked up a lot cheaper on ebay occasionally.

Thanks, they said I could start off trying their versions at lower cost but they have a lower frequency range and will be locked.

I’m not sure they can lock the Signia ones, I’ll ask.

I updated Connexx to 9.8 and it says that the 7 AX programming is compatible with NoahLink and Wireless but doesn’t mention HiPro as it does with the Micon 5.

Does that mean it’s probably not going to work with my HiPro 2?

Yeah the charge & go don’t have a HiPro port, so Noahlink Wireless is the one to go for.

Yes good idea, always good to know before buying.

I was thinking of going with 312 batteries rather than re-chargeble - a bit cheaper, more future proof and hopefully HiPro compatible…?

No unfortunately, its Noahlink Wireless programming for those as well, HiPro is basically obsolete, Noahlink Wireless is the industry standard for programming now.

OK, got it. Good thing I know that, to budget £100 or so to go down that route.

They are not terribly keen, but I don’t think they can lock the Signia ones rather than the Specsavers branded ones.

They also add £100 to the cost of the Streamline Mic and Streamline TV accessories, which is annoying profiteering.

I’ll probably order the Pure 7 AX 312 battery version today with 3 month return policy but if I get the Stremline Mic from Amazon I don’t know what happens if the latter can’t pair to the 3rd party bluetooth devices.I need.

You could be right about the Signia version, but some rebranded models from quite a few different manufacturers are locked at the factory, some are code locked from the software and although uncommon, the audiologist can lock the programming with a code from within the software.

You could buy these elsewhere and save a few dollars, even more if you got used models.
What kind of other bluetooth devices will you be wanting to use with the Streamline Mic.

In the end, Specsavers price-matched the Streamline Mic :relaxed:

I’ll buy a £25 BT 5.3 transmitter to send from a headphone socket. The Streamline says it will pair to any BT device, up to 8 of them, but we’ll see if that works reliably!

Likewise, whether I need to tweak the programming.

That’s brilliant, good on them, as for the Streamline it shouldn’t have any issues doing that, but one thing I noticed with it, it’s run time is not fantastic, mine spat it’s dummy within 12 months, I never bothered to replace it.
