It may be the app. Connectivity can be a real issue. I have an IPhone. If I go to 'Settings" then scroll to Accessibility, then go to Hearing Devices, I can get my Signia Ax 7s from there. Often the Signia app will claim that they aids are ‘not connected’. The phone shows that they are, and they’re fully controllable from that spot. However I’ve never had the weird issues that you’re mentioning happen.

Signia has a help line (gogole it) that addresses issues with a live person. Mostly they talk a person through connectivity issues. Worth going to. Here it is: 800 350 6093

the app seems to say it is connected but even if i turn off the app i have the same issues of the volume going up then back down. but i can’t tell about the batteries without the app telling me the battery condition. i have had then were one is on and one off and not the same aid one time the right and then 10 minutes later the left. sometimes the volume seems loud and then a bit later i can’t hear a thing but if i tap the mics i hear that real good. this is the second pair. i went to one audi and he programmed them wrong i had to put the right inthe left ear and the left in the right ear and they sounded good and i did not have any issues.
then i sent those back and switched audis and they got me this pair and i seem to have issues with this pair.

I have rechargable AX7 and the only connection issues that I had were due to the crappy modem in my old phone and BT4. When I’ve replaced the phone, with one which has a Qualcomm modern and BT5, all issues went away.
Also, they shouldn’t self adjust the volume, I don’t recall any program that does that (there’s noise filtering but that’s different). I self-program mine so I’m aware of most of the options.
Signias in default, universal mode have enabled Augmented Focus, which is supposed to separate voice from background noise. But in my experience it tends to be too slow and sometimes focuses on odd things. So I have separate program that turns it off.
They released updated firmware just a couple of days ago that’s supposed to improve it, so make sure that your HAs have latest firmware.
I’ve never had issues similar to yours, they might be battery related, as mine are rechargable.

Also, what’s up with all of the rebranding of Signias, I’ve counted four or five so far?

Interesting. I had no idea. why do that anyway? outside of Costco?

P.s. I have the rechargeable AX7s with telecoil battery too. I’m happy! Ilike them for playing my guitar. They have a good reputation among musicians on the Adult Musiicians with hearing loss forum, but there aren’t that many who use them so far. so small sample size. Phonak and Oticon still seem to rule. How are you getting on with yours?

The audis that I’ve tried were totally incompetent, refused to change some options and clearly didn’t understand some of them. It’s only when I bought the programmer and after 2 months of changing stuff I finally got from them what I needed.

There’s separate program for musicians which turns all of the AI/smart stuff off ( and sets the mics to omni mode I think) which I use all the time, as the AI stuff tends to be messy.

mine do good sometimes with BT the only thing that uses that app now on my phone and some mobilityware games. but sometimes it works good and sometimes i can hardly hear the games play. last night for example i turned on a game and the volume on the aids was at 8 the default and then phone was about 1/3 volume and the aids about blew out my eardrums. then i double checked the phone app and it was at 8 and the phone i turned the volume off and that failed to turn the volume down on the aids. then i turned the volume off on the app and that failed to turn the volume down on the aids, then after i payed a few games all of a sudden the BT volume when down and i could not get it to come back on. i could barely hear the games thru the BT on the aids.

i think i have a bad set. so maybe the audi can do a firmware update on them. if not, i plan on getting the noah programmer so i can program them myself and then i will try a firmware update to see if that helps. i have the cubes for the phonak aids and i programmed those and they do work good.

i got these signia aids because my medicare insurance paid for new aids, so i figured i might as well get some and have a backup pair. the phonak’s are maybe 5 years old now.

if i get the signia aids working good and the program set so i can use them then i will get that BT streamer for the tv so i can hear the tv better and not have to use the headphones. so the wife can have the volume back down to her comfort level.

Do you have an iPhone? Your HAs can connect directly to your phone, like normal Bluetooth earbuds (without any additional device).
The sound will be much better and you won’t have to mess with volume on both of them.

no i have the samsung a51 the aids connect to the phone with the phone games and i bet if i used the phone for a phone i could hear thru the aids good but i do not use the phone for a phone much.

as i said above i got a pair of these form another audi and they programmed them to the wrong ears and when i just put them in the wrong ears they did good. the BT worked good the volume worked good i just had to use them in the opposite ears. so i took those back and switched audi’s and they got me another pair. i think these have an issue and maybe the audi can do a firmware update and get them to work. if she can’t then when i get my programmer i will try for an update.

I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same thing, A51 can stream sound directly to your HAs, here’s the supported list https://www.signia-pro.com/en/business-support/compatibility/
If they’re connected that way and volume changes on its own, that means that the option for ‘adaptive volume’ for streaming is ON, and it’s shit, so tell your audi to turn it off.

yes i know they can and that may be what is going on with the volume messing up. i have to see her in 2 weeks so i have a list of all the issues.

the funny thing is when i got the first pair that audi told me the phonak v10 aids i have are better than the signia ax5 aids are. so i wonder if that may also be some of the issue is that i’m looking for something better and i have the same or a bit worse?

I would say that any HAs are only as good as capabilities of audi handling them. Signias have a wide array of options and big potential, just need someone who is capable of leveraging it.

Agtree with Reginald. Maybe give your audi a heads up via gmail or a phone call in terms of all the issues that you’re having. Also: it’s possible to audis to get a Signia audi on the phone during a visit so that the two of them and you can brainstorm together and fix the issues. Also, call that help line! no appt. necessary.

Signias AX, are very focused on getting voice in front, at all cost, because that’s what’s the most important to many. And I guess all HAs are similar in that regard.
But I’ve found that it had very muffling effect on environment and it resulted in very tunnel like hearing for me, which I’ve found uncomfortable.
I’ve set them to be dumber and more open and trust my brain to do the heavy lifting, and that’s what works for me currently.

That “adaptive volume” settings is for environmental sounds (ambient noise) so would only affect the stream if your using headphones or in a noisy environment, and yes it’s absolute crap anyway and should be turned off regardless.

@Reginald have you tried the directional microphone adjustment through the app,one thing is the microphones can be adjusted within the software to suit how you like to hear, you could ask your audiologist to change how they are set up.

I don’t have to, I have latest Connexx and Noah, plus have months of testing and fiddling behind me.
Signias App isn’t very fast to open and changing mics every time you need to is annoying.
Beamforming on them isn’t very good anyway.
I’ve created programs with configurations that I need.
Most of it is only useful in moderately to very noisy environments, and it should be available only then. The HAs aren’t that smart yet, unfortunately.

yes the focus does not do anything. yesterday i turned it on in the restaurant and focused it to the front in as narrow beam as i could and i could hear the people ne back of me better than if i had just left it alone. i have tested it at home also and the focus did not make any difference. plus with the signia when i hear words i get a buzzing in my ears for every word. the audi turned down all the settings and it did go down but not away, i’m telling you there is something wrong with these aids i have phonak and 2 pair of moxies and i have never had the same issues with those aids. so like i said when i see her i will see if she can do a firmware update. if not then when i get a programmer i will do it myself. i have did that on the moxies and the phonaks.

i put the phonak’s back in and all the issues went away for now

Also, You might be not aware of that (I wasn’t until months in) but clicking on the person in the middle turns auto focus mode off, and sets mics to omndirectional mode.

I see that your audiogram is done in 5 decibel ranges (because that’s faster). With Signia’s software Connexx you can make a more accurate one, with 1dB ranges. It helped me tremendously, to get a better sound out of them.

yes i know that one, if you click auto, it gets smaller and if you click on the right left or front it sets an arrow that lets zoom to the front more. mine does not work at all that setting does nothing for me.
