Siemens Vibe or ReSound Be

Gn has started to make custom made Be…
A regular CIC with the micr out of the instrument

Bumping this thread for a question.

What is the advantage of a mic outside of a CIC?

Personally, I think one of the major advantages of a CIC is that the mic IS in the ear canal, not above it or behind it. Maybe I don’t understand what the BE is supposed to do.

I think with the be it is moving the mic out so the unit inside the ear can be smaller, allowing for the venting or open space between the be and the ear canal, reducing the occlusion effect.

Now I understand. Thank you very much!

I never had a problem with occlusion with my CICs. Maybe that’s just a function of my hearing loss combined with how they are programmed.

The Be to me ‘feels like’ an OTC product.

It’s one-size-fits-all approach, discreet style and open fitting suggest that it is targeted at the younger part of the age-related hearing loss market.

However … it is interesting to see that a custom Be where an ear impression is needed is on the way!

Interesting point. I certainly don’t qualify for that demographic, however.
