Against my better judgement I’m going to weigh in (or is it wade? ).

I don’t like the best practices program. If he were interested in doing that the right way, it would be to separate that concept to a non- profit entity with specific stated items to become accredited. I would have no problem with that entity charging a fee to be accredited.
Doing it the way he is mixes the stayed goal with his own business income plan, and I have problems with that. It feels more like a money grab and less like the patient benefit he suggests. That’s my $.02

I guess I’m OK with it as a marketing ploy, but the disturbing thing is people reporting that they went to a business in his program and then that business didn’t do or encourage the best practices he espouses.

@kevels55 there are many of us Americans who also believe that Healthcare is a human right - the irony is that the pro life party is the one that is against it :man_facepalming:

After 10 years of unsuccessful experiences with private audiologists (and some downright unpleasant results) I went to Costco for their KS10 aids. The audiologist was absolutely wonderful, attentive and knowledgeable. The hearing aids were less than half what I had paid three times previously, and vastly superior. For the first time I have aids with fidelity suitable for listening to streaming music, and complete control functions with my Android phone. Costco hands down for me!

I am sure there are millions of Americans whom would agree with your sentiments @janofh, but, with “Healthcare Insurance”, lobbying the government, I believe they are a powerful entity, from what I have read, they are not about to relinquish their stranglehold on the American healthcare Insurance market, you would imagine, with all the different healthcare insurance companies on the USA market, this would help drive down healthcare prices, but it seems to have had the opposite effect, with I believe the USA has the most expensive healthcare system on the planet? Logic tells me they must be in cahoots, and running a vast cartel, to keep prices artificially higher, although I could be way off base on that argument? Not knowing if you are covered or partially covered would be an extreme headache, there also appears to be a lot of copayment? IMO, a way to leech more profits from the afflicted! Insurance companies, have no actual interest in your healthcare, and only see profits as their ultimate goal, when you need access to healthcare, they can deny you that care at the stroke of a pen…… A very flawed system. YMMV… Cheers Kev :wink:

@kevels55: once again, Kev, I think you’ve hit the nail on its proverbial head. We Canadians feel the same way about our health care system, even though we still have to pay for dentistry, spectacles, and hearing aids (and, IMO, these definitely should be covered).

But even back in the '60s, at university, my American friends couldn’t get their heads around our brand of “socialism”.

I think this is pretty much still the case.

That would depend on which Americans you ask.

The amount of fear mongering that goes on in this country is quite amazing. On both sides!

Yeah Jim, obviously you can get Hearing Aids, Dentistry and Glasses, from the UK NHS (National Health Service) but that’s a bit of a postcode lottery, it all depends where you live, and that is all dependant on the quality of the NHS delivery in your area…. Especially exasperated through the pandemic, waiting times have probably quadrupled, cancellations can be normal and invariably you will wait perhaps many months for hearing aids, so perhaps patients isn’t a virtue, when you are in the profound hearing threshold :upside_down_face: I still go to my NHS Audiology Department, last time they gave me a set of Phonak Naida M70 P13 SP’s, they are nice aids, and now serve me as backups for my Naida P90’s, the Naida M70’s are most definitely not normal NHS issue! And would be classed as, “out of catalog”, meaning a special issue, where an NHS A.uD has requested these aids outside the normal NHS catalog. I tend to want appointments immediately if not sooner, so for my HA’s, Teeth, and Glasses, I pay for out of pocket, if you want the best, and you want it sooner, you pay through the nose, in all truth, I don’t have a problem with that, in a way I am saving the NHS money, by mostly paying for my own…. Cheers Kev :wink:

@kevin6: I’m sorry, Kevin - I haven’t heard that expression before… What does it mean? (I tried Quacking it - nothing)

It’s a combination of fear mongering and fat fingering common with today’s electronic devices :wink:

Typo fixed…

They now seem to be in catalogue, the Phonak Naida M70 SP Aids. Look down to the bottom and it’s listed.

Thank you @Zebras, as per usual, I stand corrected, you are always on the ball with NHS hearing aids issue, very much appreciated with your input…. Cheers Kev :wink:

@kevels55

I think it’s only been added tho. When you got your M70s, they definitely weren’t on the NHS Phonak website.
