Does anyone know what the market is for a pair of Oticon Opn S 1 hearing aids that were purchased in 2019 and are still under warranty? They are Chroma Beige miniRITE with replaceable batteries. According to the clinic I got them from, the warranty is transferrable. At the time, they were the top of the Oticon product family.
I can tell you that when I’m shopping for used HAs the only two places I know of are eBay and sometimes Facebook Marketplace. On the first one you can search for your model and look at Completed Items to see what they actually sold for. The reality is that very few people are prepared to buy used HAs. Audiologists are not too happy to deal with them if they didn’t sell them to you which means you’re selling to the DIY market. Even if the warranty is still active it still usually requires that the buyer go through an audiology office. My experience is with Phonak and they won’t deal with the public (patients) directly on a warranty claim. Good luck.
Is the warranty transferable. I was under the impression it’s not
The clinic where I bought them said they would have no problem fitting them to another patient. They would charge a fitting fee.
The clinic where I bought them said the warranty is from Oticon and it is transferrable.
The fact that the clinic would fit the aids for another person for a fee doesn’t impress me. I would contact oticon about warranty transfers. Or are we talking about extended warranty purchased from the clinic?
Not sure why you think the clinic should not charge a fee to fit the hearing aids to another patient. It takes time, they have to supply receivers and possibly molds, there will always be adjustments, etc.
The warranty is the Oticon warranty, not from the clinic.
But you won’t get much for the Aids because the other person has to pay for fitting.
I never said the clinic shouldn’t charge. You made it sound like that was a big plus and I didn’t think it was. Of course they would charge for services they provide. Besides that the aids are 3 years old. How long is the warranty
