Roger ON V2 - in trial now

Only way to do it is turn volume down all the way on your HAs. OR you can use the App to save wear and tear on your Aids. That’ll reduce the TV and make the HA Mics louder.

Quite an hassle really in my opinion.

Mute on my On doesn’t work when in docking station.

DITTO for me. And yet the User Manual says it SHOULD. I’ll bring it up with Phonak on Fri. They’re pitching a “waterproof” aid that ain’t, Roger V2 directions that don’t work, and licensing boondoggle that has left a BALD patch of frustration on my head.

Stay tuned!

Does it say it’ll work in the docking station as from what I’ve read, it’ll only work when using it as an actual Mic?

Can you not just mute the TV as I assume hubby doesn’t want to hear them either?

Using media cable just now, mic is muted by default to play media. I can hold the button and the mic with a strike through it changes to a mic without strike, but the mic still doesn’t work until media stream stops for a while. Then it acts as a mic again until streaming starts. Then the mics shut off. I assume the same thing is happening when you are playing media through the dock.

In fact NOT! We can only mute the local TV stations by reducing volume to zero. Even tho MUTE is on the TV remote control, it appears that all audio goes through the Marantz ZONE2 output. It. Is. Beyond. Me.

I’m just grateful that I can stream audio all night long - in mono - to my LEFT ear only. Very very sub-optimal, but this is the dungeon I’m living in, and until lightning strikes the entire Marantz box, we’re stuck with it, I guess?

And, nope! Roger V2 stick will not mute no matter if it’s IN the base or OUT of the base. I may as well press a circle drawn on the wall. Nothing happens. So I’ll bring that up with the Phonak rep.

Well. Good. Lord.

You got yourself an issue, alright!

A bit late on this one

  1. When Roger On is in the base unit, the button does nothing.

  2. TV mute will mute the speaker, but rarely the Toslink. This seems the same for your system.

My solution for this was a “smart plug” connected to my wifi. This works for my TV Connectors and would work for your base units. I, basically, switch off the power to the device by a click on my cellphone, and switch it back on when I want to resume.

LOL you’ve got LIFE figured out! I sure wouldn’t have thought of that “fix” if you hadn’t posted it here.

I found it really annoying that the aids blared non-stop when I traveled and used the Roger V2 for TV streaming … but at home, rarely if ever watch TV (or Amazon with it’s “FREE viewing WITH ADS!”).

Do you have a “smart plug” app on the phone then? And, would that also require MyPhonak app on the phone?

@1Bluejay
I use the Philips Hue system for outside lights, and have added 2 smart plugs to it (for both my TV Connectors. I then link it to Google home. The TV Connectors are both v1, so there’s no on/off switch. This avoids unplugging, and maybe losing the cable behind the TV. Works for me :grinning:

I’ve seen my new hearing aid practioner twice.
First time the new setup was amazing.

Second time it was even better. We had a good talk. The dispensing audiologist and I parted friends. Except he said my hearing had improved; he said they would be quieter. Less gain. New fellow says once the damage is done within our ears due to exposure to loud noise hearing does not improve.

He did a quick fit again. Some time in future I’ll have a new hearing test. I’m hearing much better than i did before. Even better by far than I did with the last quick fit. And when I got in my Jeep the jazz I listened to sounded spectacular I had given up listening to music. Now it’s fun.

So I’m on a good path. I expect I’ll be even better when I have a full hearing test done; last one was a couple of months ago…or so. By the-audiologist-that quit.

If anyone had said this stuff happened I wouldn’t have bought hearing aids. But I would have been the loser for that.

Ah, that makes sense! I replaced my V1 TV Connectors with the V2 several years ago, and now those have just been mothballed with the Roger V2 sitting pretty next to the TV!

I’ve now had TWO (count 'em!) nights in a row with NO interference in my TV streaming. There’s no explanation that I can think of … well, we observed that my odd neighbor has his ex-wife visiting, so perhaps his SPY SNOOPING gear is hidden away?

I’m over the MOON being able to stream audio to BOTH ears alllllll night long. Haven’t had that since maybe early July?

More NEWS from the field! Yesterday, hubs and I got a call on his cell phone. We put it in “speakerphone” mode, I placed my Roger V2 in “tabletop” mode right next to it and BY GOLLY I streamed that call beautifully! I even left the room, was washing up dishes in the kitchen and still heard EVERY SINGLE WORD.

Hubs had to blab my secret to our callers (they always call us on their crappy cell phone, either in the car or on the run (no Skype or Facetime), and it actually made them nervous that I can hear SO WELL from just about anywhere in the vicinity. HA!

It was LIBERATING and made my day. :grinning:

It can change depending on the time of day that the test is done. I hear way worse in the afternoon than I do in the morning. I’m not saying this is true for everyone, but it might be a consideration.
Best wishes,

Peter, that is way clever. I have the TV Connector 2. I play the TV’s to a sound bar or AV receiver. When I have MyPhonak between surround and connector, there is a delay when streaming between the TV and Toslink output if taken to the sound bar or AV receiver. So, I need to have the slider all the way to the HA’s to avoid an echo. Fine, the sound is great. But as you say, if spouse says something, you have to pause. Rather than turn off the TV Connector, which takes the HA’s to Auto, I just keep my phone in my lap and move the slider all the way to the left - surround.

I do like the fact that the Toslink input to the TV Connector has no problem with lip sync. There are ways to solve lip sync with streaming by using the streamer to feed the sound bar. But with TV’s having streaming built in, you just have to get a separate streamer.

Just found this thread because I’m trying to find out the real detailed difference between Roger On version 1 versus version 2 for a non-technical person as I am. I have the Select but in the restaurant I get a whole lot of background noise. Someone told me I need the On, but version 1 or version 2. I’d be grateful for whatever you can tell me or advise me. Thank you.

Roger On V1 vs. Roger On V2

Roger On V2 have an additional “headset mode”
Headset mode can be best described as two-way voice streaming. This makes Roger On v2 a complete solution for online calls/communication using web applications like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, etc.

Another question please. Someone is giving me the Roger On v2 but it’s actually the On iN. Since I already have the licenses in my hearing aids which I use with the Select, by using the Roger On iNs what will that do to the licenses I already have in my aids?

I’m no audi - nor expert even - but don’t be surprised if you need to install that Roger ON iN license to BOTH aids (left, right). What I don’t know is if you can also have other Roger licenses on the aids, even if they are not the ON iN version.

You won’t be able to use the Roger ON iN V2 using your older licenses tho … that would be too much money slipping through the fingers at Phonak. lol.

If you have already Roger licenses in your hearing aids, then you are good to go with every Roger microphone. You just need to pair the hearing aids with the new Roger On IN, by pressing the button with the symbol of two chain links.
Does not matter, if the Roger On In have still his licenses inside or not.
Your licenses in the aids will stay inside and keep working with every Phonak Roger microphone.

OK that sounds GOOD! I have two pairs of aids and needed separate Rogers + license for each one (which I then insisted all be cross-licensed so I can grab any pair of aids and either of the Rogers).

Thanks for clarifying here: With one pair of aids, a person can use just a single Roger license to work with more than one Roger mic device.
