Roger ON V2 - in trial now

Is there anything else new or different you started running in the house during that time period you weren’t doing before? Think about pretty much anything that has batteries or plugs in. Even light bulbs can play in the game now.

WH

AH! Thanks for checking the Marantz manual! The TV runs on ZONE2 - which seems to indicate it’s in the correct “default”.

Tonight, I switched wearing both pairs of Lumity Life aids back and forth while watching a movie streamed from the Marantz ZONE2. From 8:30pm to almost 10pm, the RIGHT aid of either pair would simply not stream 95% of the time. In fact, the right aid would not respond to any press on the volume either. The volume in that aid (with left aid removed, but still ON, and in my lap) was VERRRRRY low. I could change programs, but only program 1 & 3 made any beep; 2 was silent.

I’d get maybe 1 minute or 3-5 min of streaming before the RIGHT aid just crapped out again. The volume goes SO LOW that if I remove my left aid, I can barely hear a thing. If I take out the right aid and put in the left aid, I can hear fine, and the left aid streams audio. So it seems the RIGHT aid is the one with intermittent streaming issues.

At just after 10pm, both pairs of aids streamed beautifully with the old TV Connector for about 40 min to the end of the movie.

Same flaky behavior in BOTH pairs of aids. I didn’t hook the Roger V2 up to the Marantz tonight, so I should do that test tomorrow, swapping the Roger for the TV Connector and again wearing each pair of Lumity Life aids to see if the RIGHT aid acts the same way.

I would love to have someone fix this, but have no idea who I’d call or how we’d fix this. The problem seems to occur only in THIS house - no other location or hotel where I streamed (using the Roger V2).

My only solution for now is to use the Roger in “tabletop” mode and adjust the volume of aids & Roger to get that sweet spot of being able to sorta, kinda stream. Better than nothing!

We had software updates done on 4 A/C wall panels here back in June, but we already had that same software update done on a 5th one with no issues.

I really need a LONG day so I can also test the TV Connector and Roger V2 streaming during the DAY.

Yes, per the photo now posted, we can get at the back of the receiver, but have used a simple analog cable that used to work. It’s the odd intermitancy of the problem that is puzzling. That cable SHOULD work, and does - intermittantly - with both the TV Connector and the Roger ON iN V2.

Maybe just a red herring, but I wonder if the AIDS are going down? Maybe the reason the RIGHT aid loses nearly all volume and refuses to stream is an issue?

These are rechargeable aids, and perhaps they are not as stable as a simple battery-operated one?

I need 7 days uninterrupted to test all the permutations of this issue at all hours of the day with my 2 pairs of rechargeable aids, 2 TV Connector sets, and now the Roger ON iN V2.

Wouldn’t it be a HOOT if the issue evaporated if I changed brands to Oticon? Just to see?

Does this happen when on vacation? If not, then it tells you it’s not the Aids.

I’ve just quickly scanned your old post and I can’t see that you used a toslink cable to the tv connector.
Did you try that.?

Sorry I haven’t read the whole thread, but I think the TV Connect is a much simpler device to use for streaming. Roger On is a great device, but can get complicated. The “best” device isn’t always best.

@PeterH
doesn’t work for me.
If I’m alone the TV Connector works well. If I’m not, it’s off.
See in her view my hearing aids are supposed to fix my hearing. I know…they don’t. Way back they used to, but my hearing wasn’t so bad then.

Being hard of hearing affects two…

AH! GOOD point. It drives me nuts trying to second guess the root cause. But you nailed it: my aids worked 100% streaming at hotels on vacation. Thanks for putting that out there!

Unfortunately, there is NO access to the back of the TV in our TV room to plug that toslink in. ALL audio is hard-wired to go from the Samsung TV through the wall, into a wizard’s closet and then routed through a Marantz hi-fi by cable to the TV Connector or my newer Roger V2.

Sigh. My best option is likely to use the Roger V2 in tabletop mode right in front of the speaker (hubs gets ambient sound via speakers, I get sound routed through Marantz to my Phonak streamers).

Weirdly … here is the latest test: tonight I used only the Roger V2 plugged in to the Marantz hi-fi. Streaming A-OK until 7:30pm. Like Cinderella, that’s when streaming in RIGHT aid STOPPED.

From 1 min before every quarter of the hour until 2-3 min after every quarter of the hour NO RIGHT AID streaming. Only from 14 min to 17 min around each quarter of the hour, I’d stream beautifully through the Roger V2 to BOTH aids. This went on all night.

Now, hubs wonders if there is some kind of radio communication system to track weather for local, small airport or some such? It’s just too pinpoint every 15 min of the hour. Likely my neighbor isn’t using spyware; perhaps this interference is bigger than just my neighborhood? NO one else here that I know wears aids, so I’m the only one I know going through this nightly Twilight Zone.

During the day, NO ISSUES streaming audio. It seems to only happen AT HOME (not on the road) from 7:30-10pm or so.

Earth to Mars! Come in Mars! Now GIT OUTTA HERE! I actually hear better with NO streaming of TV except there is some echo in the room’s acoustics and for rapid-fire dialogue on the TV, I simply won’t catch 20% of it unless it’s streamed.

WAIT A MINUTE. Are you saying that you only stream TV alone?!?!?!

Yes, it’s a hassle to take aids out of streaming and answer countless questions spouses feel compelled to ask when we’re blissfully streaming and hearing BETTER than them … but isn’t that the point?

I hear maybe 85-90% of TV dialogue when not streaming with aids in default program, but by golly, I hear close to 100% when they’re streaming. That is what keeps my brain from going DEMENTED. We have to protect our brain health by streaming/hearing as good as we can!

Yes. It’s an issue. Long story.

Does anyone here know how to MUTE sound when streaming TV using the Roger V2? I have a loaner unit that I’ll be swapping in for a purchased unit on Friday, but can’t seem to MUTE the sound using this device.

User manual shows these instructions:

Doesn’t work! I’ve tried pushing the center button for a good two seconds with the stick locked IN the base, taken OUT of the base, with the power switch on right side ON … OFF. No combination works to MUTE the sound.

Puzzled.

I have my aids setup as to when I select mute by long press on lower rocker button on aids it totally mutes my P90 aids microphones and only sends the Roger, Partner mic, tv connector or streaming audio . Very helpful when driving to totally mute the aids and use Roger or Partner mic .

During my first visit to my new practitioner he gave me to reports. I had never seen them before.

  • Target User Report
  • Target Pro Report
They are magnificent! Surely we should be given information after every setup so we can see what is done.

I had asked all my audiologists for information so I can see:

  • What settings are available
  • What settings actually are

I had told my old dispensing audiologist that I thought there was something small missing in my setup. I had about 10 visits in 2 years. In every visit I told him my issues, and meant that as constructive criticism. We parted friends. However, seeing the damage he did we are no longer friends. Credit Valley Audiology.

HUM!!! When I press long on the lower rocker button on my L90s, the first thing that happens is that I go OUT of streaming immediately. Within seconds, both aids shut off completely. Maybe L90s are that much different than P90s?

I’d LOVE to figure out how to just MUTE the Roger V2 during TV ads. Currently, it makes no difference if I press the control button on the Roger V2 stick for two long seconds. Nothing happens. Ads are still booming along merrily, streaming LOUD ads into my ears.

Did you also try pushing your HA knob to change the programm? That’s how I use it. The second thing I am not sure of, programming it in your Target software…

That’s how my hearing aids were setup by the dispensing audiologist. Long push on the lower button. turned the P90’s off.

OK - just to be clear to ALL: I don’t want to turn my AIDS off. I just want to MUTE the TV ads.

Similar to using a TV remote, we hit the “MUTE” button during ads. We don’t stick fingers in our ears, take aids out, turn them off, or run to the far corner of the house.

I want to sit in my easy chair, TV on, and MUTE the loud ads booming every 5-8 minutes. Does that make sense? MUTE. Roger manual says it can be done with a 2-second long press on the V2 stick. Doesn’t work. I’ll bring it up on Friday when I get in to see my audi and the Phonak rep she’s invited in to walk me through the Roger V2. :slightly_smiling_face:
