The notes say “hearing devices. Some hearing devices may lose connectivity with third party apps”

So this sounds very promising! I will report back later.

So the Resound app support team responded to my email and said they had the good news for me that Apple had already released the new update IOS 15.4.1 to fix the connectivity issues with IOS 15.4 .

Anyway I downloaded and installed it on my iPhone yesterday and so far everything is behaving normally again. I will report further here in a couple of days. I hope this is helpful to some of you.

Thanks for the info. I have noticed great improvements vs. what appear to be EMI as I walked by certain houses in the neighborhood while streaming with earlier versions of iOS 15.x. iOS 15.4 removed most of the interference and with iOS 15.4.1 on a 2-mile walk past 102 residences, there was like a brief warble, a couple of pauses, and one time when the podcast stopped playing but all I had to do was hit the Play button again. My HA’s never lost connection. At the nadir of streaming with earlier versions of iOS in going by certain houses, my ReSound Quattros would both lose the podcast and 3D connectivity and I’d often have to “force close” the 3D app and relaunch it to re-establish connectivity. Since my connectivity problems have largely been fixed by an Apple iOS update, I would say that Apple gets at least part of the blame for likely screwing up in trying to make BT connectivity/timesharing, whatever, “more better” in iOS but not getting it right the first time or two around.

It seems to be better, with upgrade. I have not had to reinstall everything. The problem I am having now is losing connection from iPhone. The fix I found to work is just turning iPhone off and restarting…… everything seems to work again. Hopefully resound and apple keep working on this
(Just a update at end of day, turn phone off twice today, will try shutting off blue tooth next time)

Another fix you could try is turning Bluetooth off on your phone, wait a few seconds then turn Bluetooth on again. You do this from the control centre, so it’s very quick.

Also restarting your hearing aids may well reconnect them to the iPhone. That might be quicker than restarting your phone.

I think IOS 15.4.1 has fixed my problem, so I recommend it now to anyone who has IOS 15.4 currently.

The face recognition unlocking the phone while wearing a mask works well too incidentally.

So I just went from 15.3 to 15.4.1 today. Didn’t have to reinstall the app or disconnect the aids. Worked right after boot. I was holding off but since it was stated 15.4.1 addresses some HA issues I upgraded.

Hi all!

New to this forum. I just updated my iPhone 12 Pro Max to iOS 15.4.1. The Smart 3D app seems to be working well for my LiNX 3D RIE HAs, which I got through the VA.

Unfortunately my wife’s Jabra Enhance Pro RiE HAs are acting a bit weird on her iPhone 12 Pro (15.4.1) using the Jabra Enhance Pro app. For some reason, the treble/mid/bass controls can jump around randomly on their own. Also does the same thing if viewing using the Apple Accessibility/Hearing devices interface. We’ve been in contact with her Costco service rep, who in turn contacted Jabra/Resound tech support about the problem. I think Jabra/Resound acknowledged there’s problem. So far, haven’t heard anything.back about a fix.

Just thought I’d mention this Jabra problem in case anyone else here has also encountered it.

Thanks.

Just to say that yesterday for the first time I saw this same issue with my Resound Ones and an iPhone 12 Pro on IOS 15.4.1

Clearly Apple haven’t fully fixed this issue of hearing devices losing contact with third party apps in IOS 15.4.1, from my experience just now of streaming music samples from the excellent Presto Classical website on my iPhone 12 Pro to my Resound Ones. It used to be faultless, but now it fails in various unpredictable ways when the screen blanks.

However the Resound Smart 3D app seems to be mostly working fine and I haven’t seen the tone control issue again since my post a few days ago.

I have done a lot of experiments and while I agree there is more that perhaps Apple can do, I also feel some of the issues is with the apps themselves. There is plenty of blame to be passed around. It could also be an issue with the firmware of the aids themselves too. So let’s be open minded about the whole problem

I agree with you in general, but the issue I am talking about in my last post is between the phone and the app, actually in fact a website program running in Safari, Apple’s own browser.

I am finding that the connection between the phone and the Resound Ones is solid and predictable, so this time it’s not a hearing aid firmware issue, nor a Resound Smart 3D app issue either.

Hi again,

I posted previously in this thread about my wife’s problem with her Jabra Enhance Pro HAs and the treble/mid/bass controls jumping around randomly. We contacted Jabra/Resound tech support directly and they didn’t acknowledge any known solution to this problem. In addition to this problem, we were also encountering extreme battery drain in all her mobile devices (iPhone, iPads (2), and Apple Watch. The iPhone and Apple Watch would need recharge after about 8-12 hours (or less). Prior to the latest mobile releases (eg. iOS 15.4.x) things were working fine with the HAs, Jabra app, and mobile devices. Only after updating to the latest releases did we encounter these problems. We even installed the latest beta iOS 15.5 software on her iPhone to see if that made a difference with no success.

Finally, out of desperation, we tried removing the HA instances from the 2 iPad devices since we had also installed the Jabra apps on those for use when upstairs in the evening and iPhone was downstairs recharging. Using the previous iOS software we could turn off Bluetooth on the unused devices and the HA software on the single bluetooth active mobile device worked fine, but not after the latest mobile iOS software updates.

After removing the HA instances on the 2 iPads so the only HA instance was on the iPhone, everything started working correctly again. The treble/mid/bass controls stopped jumping around and the battery drain on all the mobile devices returned to normal levels. We are now on the 3rd day of normal operation, so we think the problem is now resolved.

Apparently having the HA instances on more than 1 mobile device seemed to cause these problems. If anyone else encounters the above problems with multiple HA instances on mobile devices you might want to try what we did.

Good Luck!

Yes this has been reported many times on this forum if MFi hearing aids are connected to more then one iOS device, they misbehave.

I have been ok on latest 15.4.1, get the black screen in resound 3d app, but its often best to turn BT on and off and close app and open again, this is like an issue many apps have for everything. It just means at times it always looks like im on phone messing around but am adjusting ears! lol need to point that out some times.
It is very annoying that quattros cant easily connect to both ipad and iphone and switch from to other quickyl.

i have experienced just what you say about Resound hearing aids (Prezia) having random movements of the bass and treble settings AND the running down of the battery on two iPhones. NOTE: The Resound app was loaded on both phones and my iPad. HOWEVER, although the apps were loaded on iPhone #2 and my iPad, the apps were not running. I only use the app with my hearing aids on iPhone #1. I just now deleted the Resound app from iPhone #2 and my iPad but how could the app have any influence if it is not running? Is this possible?

I should be able to see if there is any change tomorrow. For background, I noticed that for the past few days up until today, the two phones were not running down and the hearing aids were behaving normally. Then today it was back to the same problems again. Since you are a sw engineering, does this make any sense to you? Thanks. I’m going crazy.

With the update you may have to delete the app and reinstall. If this doesn’t work go to settings and accessibility. Select hearing aids and forget your current hearing aids. Open and close battery doors or place in charger and remove after 5 seconds. Allows Bluetooth to find your aids and pair. Open newly installed app and follow instructions. You may lose any custom programs but you can redo them.

With my Prezias, I have been experiencing the jumping frequencies for many months now. I have the app only on my iPhone 13. I constantly turn Bluetooth on and off many times a day to interact with the app and then to stop the jumping. I get no guidance from Resound or my rep at Costco who is also frustrated by this issue. I’m considering claiming a refund before my warranty expires in a couple of months. Pity because I like the Prezias and have many Resound accessories.

The title of the thread is iOS 15.4 but Apple is now up to iOS 15.5 and a new version of the ReSound Smart 3D app has come out since the iOS update. I’m only running a hand-me-down iPhone XS Max from my wife with my ReSound Quattros but I haven’t had any connectivity issues with iOS 15.5 and the latest ReSound Smart 3D app. Do the Prezias use Costco’s proprietary version of the Smart 3D app or can you use the ReSound Smart 3D app straight from the Apple Store?

Prezas use the ReSound version of the Smart 3D app.
