Hi, bit of a weird one:

A client of mine has picked up a Phone clip+ to go with their Linx 3d, all set-up and works great - after 30seconds of use, both music and phonecalls are muted to the aids?

Has anyone experienced the same, is it an Android function, or is something on the Clip going to sleep/powersave after 30 secs?

If just using the phone’s speaker, without the Phone Clip+ powered on, do calls and audio work normally?

Assuming it works as normal on regular calls and speakerphone calls, I would try a generic Bluetooth headset device. If all that works normally then maybe it is a bad Phone Clip+.

I don’t know of anything that would cause that in Android.

OK, I’ll speak to them tomorrow. I was struggling for an answer.

I had two problems with mine - until today. The first problem occurred rights after I got them in August. For streamed music/audio I got sound only in the left ear. The second happened last week. As soon as I dialed a phone number, I would hear the dial tone and then all the sound cut out. (For other BT devices I got sound in both ears and repairing the BT connection did not help.) I finally got the time to go to the VA walk in clinic this morning and the audiologist repaired (reprogrammed) the phoneclip with my hearing aids. All is good now (so far).

Ok, I might need to have a look at it for them - I’ll suggest it gets a software re-reflash.

Does your client also wear an Android or Samsung smartwatch? Here is my experience with a BT connection to my Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier smartwatch killing my Phone Clip+ connection:

Cheers Jim,

I don’t think they do, but I’ll ask. I’m thinking of going down the ‘delete, re-load and re-pair’ route first with them.

Though if there’s other hardware at play it might be causing the issue.

My experience with Android 8.0 is that when you install an app, it gets permission to run in the background by default. But I like to kill everything running in the background that I don’t absolutely need, including the ReSound Smart 3D app if I don’t plan to change my HA settings. I can still check HA settings and change them, check rechargeable battery status by launching the app, running it in the foreground briefly, then quit.

Today for the first time, I had a problem with the Phone Clip+ disconnecting regularly with great frequency. When I looked, I hadn’t switched back to allowing the Smart 3D app to run in the background and I’d also gone a very long time running the Smart 3D app off and on without powering off my phone. So the first thing I did was rebooted my phone and after that for the remaining 20 minutes of a walk the streaming connection was solid. In the future, I’ll look into whether not allowing the 3D app to run in the background is a potential cause of lost connections while streaming (I don’t allow my podcast players to run in the background and that doesn’t seem to affect streaming).

So based on my very limited experience one thing might be whether the user periodically reboots their phone at all (I power mine off and on at least once a day). And the other might be if they’re like me and messing around with what apps can run in the background - that might have had some influence on my connectivity problems today and perhaps theirs?
