I moved to Rexton Reach from my KS10’s and wanted to use the KS10 as backup. I had the batteries replaced under warranty and assumed I would be good for at least 3 years. I kept the 10’s charged until a trip and unplugged them to take them with me. I then forgot to charge the 10’s for about 2weeks and now one of them will not charge, I tried several times and no luck. Any ideas guys
I have rechargeable aids as backup. I wear them one day a month to exercise their batteries. It has worked great over the last 5 years.
Switch the aids in the charger to make sure it is the hearing aid and not the charger that is the problem. You can try rebooting the aid by holding the rocker/button down for 15 seconds to see if that helps.
I have tried both switching charging locations and reset, no joy
Looks like another trip to Costco is in your future.
I had the same thing with Resound Presa from Costco. I found a recessed reset button on the bottom of the charger. Pushed it momentarily with a paper clip bent end. Problem disappeared.
Sometimes you can kick start rechargeable batteries that have drained too low, and refuse to charge… I have done this with Dewalt lithium batteries, with some success… You could try this with the rechargeable hearing aids, one at a time, place one aid in the charger dock, press it down until it hits the contacts, then immediately pull the aid out, repeat about 8 times or so, then do the same with the other aid, then place both aids in the charger, and see if they will charge… Repeat as many times as you like. I have saved a few batteries with this method, but alas not all, tis worth a try… Cheers Kev
Another way to resuscitate rechargables is to connect the contacts on the HAs to a battery via wires for a short time. Since the HA’s take 5 V, I suggest a 9V battery. First try to a second or two. It that doesn’t work, try longer. If your HA is dead you have nothing to lose.
I tried it all including the 9 v battery short and no joy. Off to Costco to price an out of warranty repair for the left aid, they were both replaced ( repaired) 6 months ago
Got my KS10 back from Costco I’m sure it’s new, they charged $135 and it comes with a one year warranty.
This is exactly why I make it a habit to throw my backups (Audien Atom Pro 2) charged. It’s been 5 years and it still works perfectly. Some batteries just don’t handle being drained for too long. You could try leaving it on the charger overnight to see if it kicks back in, but if that doesn’t work, you might need a battery replacement again.
