Phonak Sphere Infinio - speech in noise - Initial impressions

Hi, I’ve just started wearing Phonak Infinio and so far I can’t see any difference between these and the Phonak Audeo. The echo is still irritating me, and I can’t see how these hearing aids can automatically adjust to the noise levels. I tried this out at Starbucks yesterday and if I increase the volume then the background noise increases. I’m still trialling them but am fed up. Any suggestions?

Bonjour Judi , votre question m’intéresse également car je suis dans le meme cas que vous mais avec des signia en test , j’ai actuellement des rexton , et le souci est également la

It would be helpful if you provided more information. Please add your audiogram, and tell us what domes or moulds you are using. Also what your previous aids were (Audeo means nothing other than they are RIC type) and how long you used them for.

Ideally you should start a new thread with detailed information on your situation, fitting etc.

I agree, the noise reduction is more apparent as I acclimatise to the new aids, and fitting.

@Judi_L do you trial/wear “Phonak Infinio” or the “Phonak Sphere Infinio” ?

What acoustic coupling ? open domes, domes with tiny vent , or custom made molds?

Hi, I am trialling/using Phonak Infinio with what seems to be domes with tiny vents.

Setup is so important.
My dispensing Audi didn’t know how. Paradise P90Rs were awful.

I truly believe the Marvel Paradise And Lumity were a little better with each new generation.

I have read many reports here from Sphere owners. They declare the Sphere is better than the lumity distinguishing speech in noise.

I expect I’ll get new hearing aids in about a year and a half.

Ask your specialist how your hearing aids are setup. I bet the setup could be improved.

Thanks. I understand.

I prefer replaceable batteries. I was in a hospital ward overnight. My batteries had died not long after 6:00 PM.
I couldn’t understand what my cardiologist was saying before my procedure. I had turned down open heart surgery. I was only getting stents.

It certainly is. The audiologist is tweaking these about every week and I must ask if the aids are Infinio or Sphere Infinio. I think that the echo is marginally better but there doesn’t seem to be the clarity that I should be hearing. With speech in noise, I thought that as Infinio altered this automatically, then I didn’t need to click on the speech noise programme on my phone?

My hearing aids are now over 3 years old.
They were supplied by workman’s compensation. I’m grateful.
However, they are the second pair of hearing aids I’ve had that didn’t work for me.

My dispensing audi encouraged me to use the myPhonak APP. He incorporated the changes I made in setup. I still couldn’t hear. He made mistakes. When I left his care after about a year and a half, while I was in his office, he erased my hearing aids and did a quick-fit using Target. I couldn’t hear at all. I thought we were parting in a friendly way, but I was wrong.
Everytime I pull out my iPhone and use the APP, I’m lost. I can’t hear. And I’m stressed.

Your hearing aids are much better than mine. They are two generations newer.
I don’t program them myself.

Whenever I realize I can’t hear, I change my waxguards and clean my domes. I may block my two ears with an index finger in each. If the volume is louder, I change my domes too.

If the dome has slipped out of my ear and isn’t sealing right, putting a finger in each ear, the louder volume suggests to me that I need to change my dome.

I’m becoming old and much crankier using my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s. I’m exhausted by the time I leave work and go home. I feel like I need a nap.
It sounds like you’re getting good care from your audiologist. It’s amazing how much the silly wax guards and domes affect how well we hear. But the setup is the most important thing.

I am trially spheres and for several hours today I manually put them on speech in loud noise (at IKEA). And at 5 pm the battery was dead.

This is now a week into the trial and I have never been conscious of an auto change which is why I did it manually. At Ikea I wasn’t conscious that the background noise was muted but more that the shop assistant’s voice was easier to understand. Nothing dramatic though.

Indeeed. In the MyPhonak app, it would seem like the highest number you’ll get is 16 hours. Normally, at full charge I see it showing " >16 hours". Last Friday I had to wake up a lot earlier to deal with a very intense working day, so I turned them on at 6:00 AM. 10:00 PM would therefore be the 16-hour mark, and charge was about 60% and showing “14 hours”.

In my own personal experience, the background noise virtually disappears in Spheric mode. You may need some tweaking in the programming -or maybe my hearing loss makes it that much different?- I would certainly try to ask the audi to try changing something.

Or the coupling is different. Types of domes or mold venting.
