“Introducing the evolution of speech understanding”! I love it already.

It’s gonna be great!

Actually it says Audeo Teaser in the URL. Which means:

i) It’s a new Audeo with some new next level functionality.

ii) Or it’s an assistive device compatible with Audeo with some new next level functionality.

You can see in some of the video that this is a new hearing aid. One part of the scene shows a RIC wire behind the object so definitely a hearing aid. Also the text emphasizes “speech understanding” and “fully immerse in the conversations around them and enjoy easier hearing in many situations”. Wonder if they have done something to help improve speech in noise, etc?

This is exactly what I have been waiting for. My Marvels are now over 3.5years old, but i want the newest platform beyond Paradise as I struggle hearing speech in so many situations, amd do t think the paradise would be enogh of a game-changer to help me.

It’s quite obviously a Phonak aid based on Oticon Open Sound paradigm.

(The tide can only be resisted for so long … their next step will probably be to try to incorporate some form of rudimentary AI.)

It’s the new Phonak OTC hearing aid…:rofl:

I agree that it’s most likely some kind of AI technology as so many HA mfgs have been on the band wagon already with AI. But it’s not necessarily AI with some kind of the open sound paradigm like on the Oticon More, although it can be as well. The Philips HearLink 9030 which licensed from William Demant (who is also Oticon’s and Sonic’s and Bernafon’s parent company) has an AI engine specifically geared toward Speech in Noise but without subscribing to the open paradigm.

I think if Phonak comes out with an effective AI for speech in noise and couple it with their active vent technology and their already popular standard Bluetooth support for both iOS and Android, they’re probably going to have a winner on their hands. If this version gets rolled out as a Kirkland Signature model from Costco as well, it’s going to be an even bigger win for them.

@ warneral,

I had an earlier Phonak…B70’s?
I replaced them with Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s I finally have them set up well enough they are making a profound difference. It’s taken about 8 months…
Latest change is phenomenal.

The new APP helped.

I can check battery charge and adjust volume on the first screen.

On the second screen I can adjust:

  • Clarity with a single button push,
  • Noise Reduction (substantial, if I push Clarity)
  • Speech Focus (minimum if I push Clarity—voice all around in other words.)
  • Dynamic (Compression?) (mid if I push Clarity…but I find increasing this helps with voices I have trouble understanding.) This increases soft sounds.

This APP is brand new to me. It’s made a difference.

I found a video with a person who talked in a strong accent who I had trouble undertanding. I listened to this a number of times making adjustments. Initially I had trouble understanding what was said. Eventually I realized it was due to my hearing loss.

Then I had the audiologist reprogram my hearing aids with these new settings in the “automatic” program. I have the best of both worlds. Improved settings. Smart hearing aids that respond and make changes depending on the environment I am in.

Future? I need to figure out how to stream music. I want to see if my hearing aids will help me listen to music; I’ve gotten out of the habit as my hearing has become worse.

I hope this is helpful. Summary–my Pardise P90’s are (finally) starting to work well.

I’m hoping they go back to the size of the Marvel HA. I tried the Paradise for a couple of weeks, and while the performance was good (but not necessarily better than my Marvels), I found the multi-streaming clumsy and problematic. But what bothered me more was the size. I can’t find ANY comments in any reviews about this, but the size of the Paradise aids is definitely longer and fatter than the Marvels. Fingers crossed for a satisfactory new product.

@DaveL: I think Oticon reckon that their HA technology being so superior to the competition, they don’t need a good app … but they’re WRONG, wrong, WRONG!

I’m really pleased you enjoy your hearing aids and they help you playing music.

(When my wonderful audiologist helped me qualify for hearing aids, due to long exposure to loud noise at work, she had Oticon hearing aids for me to try. I have nerve damage in my hands. It was long ago…I couldn’t change settings on the loaner. She set up my first PHONAK hearing aids. She was magnificent. The hearing aids worked. However, I remember that Oticon were her first choice for me.)

The old myPhonak app wasn’t helpful. The new revised myPhonak app is much better for me. However, I’m old, and it’s been a difficult path learning how to use it.

I just want my hearing aids to work better. I still get reminders that they ain’t perfect. Tonight I’m going to play my ukulele and see if it sounds better…it’s been too long.

Its a scene from a remake of a 1953 movie “It Came from Outer Space”.

Heh! I It reminded me of the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey !!!

It’s like everything else in the hearing loss world. Some things help some, and some things dont

Phonak has been using AI to train their automatic program since at least Venture I think.

What Oticon came out with was a new marketting idea, not a new idea.

A hearing aid that improves speech comprehension. Boy there’s something you don’t hear everyday. (Get it?)
