Certain sounds were glaring in my Phonaks. Especially on TV, and the car radio. Certain sounds are like chalk on the black board. Certain female singing voices, cymbals, etc. When they tried to turn down that part, the volume overall got too low. There is a compression adjustment in my aids that helped that problem. My understanding is that compression limits how loud certain frequencies can go, so they will take the edge off some of those parts that screach in your ear. It helped mine. I don’t know if that adjustment available in all aids.
