Oh. I brought the mic to church today. Useless for worship music. Is it filtering/shaping for voice? I had it in table mode on a pew. I put it away and my HAs in music program and I was fine. Then I put the mic in pointer mode on a propped up book aimed at the preacher for the sermon. That worked a treat. I was about 30 ft from the pulpit.

My audiologist contacted the Phonak rep. The docks are backordered, and they don’t know when they will be available due to a certain chip they need. At least, that was the story.

@WhiteHat This is the docking station:

@Baltazard

Yes @WhiteHat has stated that some are on back order due to chip problems.

Likely if one place has ordered many Roger Ons, you’ll likely get a docking station. If your Audi orders from Phonak, your Roger On, you’ll likely not get a docking station.

Have got plenty in stock.

@Baltazard, Not in the box. Thanks anyway. I think they came up with packaging just for “no dock” configuration since I can’t imagine how it would fit in there. Got a power cable, USB power adapter, a 3.5mm to USB-c cable, and a cable for RCA jack to 3.5mm for the back of the TV. Just no dock.

@glucas

The signal to noise ratio is only better because of the added gain within the receivers/Roger Direct which is 10 dB.

I found out that answer as Phonak say on a PDF, that if you lower the volume on the Roger Neckloop, signal to noise won’t be as good.

I think the improved SNR comes from being closer to the source of the sound and/or the improved directionality of the microphones. Just upping the sound that comes to the hearing aids isn’t going to improve SNR.

I bought one for $30 plus shipping on ebay. It came last Friday. I am enjoying it immensely. It came with the full set of brand new cables and another charger with the plastic film still on it. Only thing missing is the booklet. I’ll google around. My Roger On booklet makes no mention of the dock anywhere. Very curious.

This manual is pretty different from the manual that came with my Roger On.

@WhiteHat $30 + shipping for a roger on, that’s a bargain. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@Baltazard

He paid $30 for the docking station.

Correct. Just the dock and cables. The seller shipped fairly quickly, and let me bargain down the price a little.

“I wish!” Actually, while I’d rather have my “normal” hearing back, the VA gave me my HAs and the Roger On, so that has been nice. I was stiffening up for laying out the cash and fighting with my insurance when the VA claim came through.

WH

@WhiteHat I got you, but you are lucky to have the insurance to chip in, some of us have had to foot the bill, the whole nine yards plus the kitchen sink :face_with_thermometer:
But at least you can hear phone calls on both ears :+1:t2:

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life

I got a Roger ON iN in Dec just in time for Christmas with my family on the west coast! It was a long wait! Worth waiting for and it does work well in many previously difficult situations where I would be unable to participate in conversation or make sense of what people were saying. Better in some situations than others, and not perfect, but a huge leap forward. The instructions are practically non existent and as a non tech person I am still trying to figure out how to use the tv cable…theoretically without affecting the sound for others watching. Perhaps using it in its dock? Not able to find anything on line to help figure it out. The barely there instructions that come with it do not show anything beyond placing the Roger by TV speaker…yet a TV cable is included as well as a sound cable. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions???

The dock using the optical cable (TOSLINK) is the way to go. Most TVs will mute their speakers when you plug an analog audio cable into the headphone port. Most people want to have other people in the room hear the program too.

@Zebras link shows the way.

Thank you!!! I think there is an issue with that optical in jack already in use and no workaround so far here in LA. More research required on both coasts. I will try when I get back home. Much appreciated!!

Zebra thank you for awesome video link!!!
