Before my CI’s, I had the Naida’s IX and made use of all the 3 features that you mentioned. I especially liked and used the DuoPhone; which allowed you to hear a telephone in both ears. Just that feature alone is what swayed me to this “Premium” version of the Naida’s.

Been reading a bit more on the Oticon Dynamo. It’s not as powerful as the Naida Qs on profound losses, but pretty comparable. http://www.oticon.com/~asset/cache.ashx?id=43063&type=14&format=web

I have a few questions regarding some of the option here, compared to Naidas. What option is similar to wind noise management? I did notice the volume control was analogue as I suspected. In addition, the Dynamo’s IP58 rating is better on moisture control than the Naidas, as they are only IP67. Is there bluetooth built in? I suspect only tcoil, just like the Naidas.

I think my Audi is pro-Oticon, so I’ll probably be getting a demo of these aids after I get my audiogram done. (He was suggesting Dynamo and Chili) I couldn’t this past week due to excessive accumulation of earwax in the canal. I’m currently using a removal kit to get prepped for this Wednesday’s test, so I will post my audiogram results after this test. Thanks for the community support on this forum!!

Just had my audiogram done a couple days ago. I still have not got a full audiogram output on paper, but I do know that I was tested with the follwing results so far:

100 Hz -70 both ears
1.5 Hz - 110 both ears

After that, I was tested as no response.

My previous that I remember is from around 7 years ago. Not sure what the 100 Hz is set as, but you can see the results here:



I was tested with the Oticon Chili, it seems much different than the Phonak Naida sounds. It seems to be missing the bass. The audi told me that he was more concerned in having me hear voices rather than the bass at the moment. I’m not sure if he’s just “pro Oticon” and just trying to fit me with whatever Oticon has, or is this standard protocol? My previous audis have told me I needed the most powerful option due to my profound hearing loss. Unfortunately, the audi I was using had retired (Had her for almost 20 years), so I am dealing with someone new.

At this point, I feel the Phonaks are the better aids, but will go ahead and see what the audi will fit me the next week before I decide.

If anybody has anything to add for me to take to the next fitting, I will appreciate it.

Why the Chili when Oticon has newer technology? Makes no sense.

Not sure, He did say the Dynamo 10, but I don’t know if that was previous or is what will be demoed in the next appointment. Hopefully it works out.

Was hoping to post here, but was having a lot of trouble resizing properly.

Not sure if I just had issues hearing the high pitches properly. Maybe it just got a little bit worse than the last audiogram.

Try putting the audiogram numbers in your signature, you don’t need to show the graph. WOW! I’d stick with the Naida’s if they are working for you.

I’m not familiar with the info after 1.5k, that’s why I posted the graph. In addition, not sure how to interpret the bone conduction info.

I know how the Naidas sound, so if I can’t get any better with Oticon, Phonak will be my next big bet.

I had finally got a response that I was tested with the Chili model. My audi also said he will test me with the Oticon Dynamo 10 model once the demo comes in (this coming Friday). I know I was missing the bass sounds in the Chili, so I’m curious how Dynamo will do better. Can anybody tell me the major differences in Chili and Dynamo? TIA

Tried to do a physical comparison of both models to see the difference. Not sure yet what’s going to stand out the most when comparing to my hearing loss, other than hopefully Sound Rescue (like Phonak’s SoundRecover option) . I attached a XML file img link for your comparison and response.

I have my 8 year old audiogram in the link, several posts back. I’m cautiously betting that I still have the hearing somewhat there, but have not been alert in listening while in the booth. I know I felt like I was hearing ghost sounds while in there.

Not sure about bone conduction aids. Is it used primarily for one sided deafness? Will have to find out more about that extender stuff from Widex.

Now that all this got me thinking, I wonder if it matters to hear for sounds in a booth under the “blind” hearing method. I wonder if it will help somewhat to know if they are transmitting sound before you try to hear that transmitted sound, and signal that you did if it was heard. I think it’s a bit difficult if you dont know the sound you heard was actually physically transmitted and not just inner ear sounds.

I have decided to trial out the Oticon Dynamo sp10 aids. I can tell they are very competitive with Phonak. Now, I’m not really familiar with what all it offers in program options. My Phonak aids had auto, front directional, tcoil+mic, FM, music and mute.

What possible options can I expect to get from these aids? I have the software, just need to know what/where I can go so I can ask the audi what I really need.
