At this point, I do not have a current audiogram. All I can say is that my last audiogram a couple years back didnt change, which was a diagonal ski slope style from 95dB to 125dB loss. I wonder how soon Phonak will release the new Naida line in the spring? I assume I will have new hearing aids somewhere by the end of February. Is there any info to support your claim yet?

I don’t want to switch, but I do want to make sure I am not behind in technology and sound that works for me. Thats why I want to see whats out there. As for the Oticon Dynamo, not sure I like that analog style, it has more susceptibility to environment damage from hair spray, moisture, etc. I remember this issue from my old Siemens Triano aids.

Theres three options in the latest Phonak Naidas that I was never able to have due to the Naida V UP when it first came out:

StereoZoom
ZoomControl
DuoPhone

I think these came out in the IX version after the V came out. I see there are even more options than these three:

Trying to compare this Q version to the Oticon Dynamo seems like comparing apples and oranges. At this point, I may be stuck with tried and true (Phonak) unless there is a better comparison chart to visually see the differences.

As for the Oticon Dynamo, not sure I like that analog style, it has more susceptibility to environment damage from hair spray, moisture, etc. I remember this issue from my old Siemens Triano aids.

It’s not analog. Its rated IP-58 which is continuous fresh water submersion to 3 ft. I don’t see any significant physical differences between the Oticon and Phonak. But the argument to stick with familiar sound is a good one for some people.

I do like the rating of IP-58 as an option. All hearing aids should have some sort of waterproof capability. I don’t know what rating Phonak uses for their current Naida Q, as the last time I read weather resistant. The wheel option does seem like an analog look. I know I have had plenty of repairs on the volume wheel due to sweat and hairspray penetration in the wheel area. Thats why I seem to edge to the toggle option. I will be asking my audi if he has some experience with Oticon fitting.

I am still open to other aids such as Oticon, though. I know that Siemens and Phonak were 2 different hearing environment comparisons, probably due to the Sound recover addition in Naida V at the time. I even looked at Widex, but I dont see anything powerful enough to match the Naidas.

Thanks for your support!!

Do you intend to keep using your current assistive listening devices? The SmartLink SX and ML10i are compatible with the Naída Q, but they won’t be compatible with the next-generation Naída. Phonak has discontinued all their Dynamic FM products and replaced them with the Roger line. So you may need to consider the additional expense of Roger pen and Roger receivers.

Thanks for bringing up the ALDs. I thought I did read that my current FM receivers were compatible. With your thought in mind, I just might get the Q’s and simply add the existing FM stuff instead. My only thought is what will the next generation Phonak hearing aids bring to the innovation table? If it’s not much change from the Q line, might as well stick with the current.

Before my CI’s, I had the Naida’s IX and made use of all the 3 features that you mentioned. I especially liked and used the DuoPhone; which allowed you to hear a telephone in both ears. Just that feature alone is what swayed me to this “Premium” version of the Naida’s.

Been reading a bit more on the Oticon Dynamo. It’s not as powerful as the Naida Qs on profound losses, but pretty comparable. http://www.oticon.com/~asset/cache.ashx?id=43063&type=14&format=web

I have a few questions regarding some of the option here, compared to Naidas. What option is similar to wind noise management? I did notice the volume control was analogue as I suspected. In addition, the Dynamo’s IP58 rating is better on moisture control than the Naidas, as they are only IP67. Is there bluetooth built in? I suspect only tcoil, just like the Naidas.

I think my Audi is pro-Oticon, so I’ll probably be getting a demo of these aids after I get my audiogram done. (He was suggesting Dynamo and Chili) I couldn’t this past week due to excessive accumulation of earwax in the canal. I’m currently using a removal kit to get prepped for this Wednesday’s test, so I will post my audiogram results after this test. Thanks for the community support on this forum!!

Just had my audiogram done a couple days ago. I still have not got a full audiogram output on paper, but I do know that I was tested with the follwing results so far:

100 Hz -70 both ears
1.5 Hz - 110 both ears

After that, I was tested as no response.

My previous that I remember is from around 7 years ago. Not sure what the 100 Hz is set as, but you can see the results here:

I was tested with the Oticon Chili, it seems much different than the Phonak Naida sounds. It seems to be missing the bass. The audi told me that he was more concerned in having me hear voices rather than the bass at the moment. I’m not sure if he’s just “pro Oticon” and just trying to fit me with whatever Oticon has, or is this standard protocol? My previous audis have told me I needed the most powerful option due to my profound hearing loss. Unfortunately, the audi I was using had retired (Had her for almost 20 years), so I am dealing with someone new.

At this point, I feel the Phonaks are the better aids, but will go ahead and see what the audi will fit me the next week before I decide.

If anybody has anything to add for me to take to the next fitting, I will appreciate it.

Why the Chili when Oticon has newer technology? Makes no sense.

Not sure, He did say the Dynamo 10, but I don’t know if that was previous or is what will be demoed in the next appointment. Hopefully it works out.

Was hoping to post here, but was having a lot of trouble resizing properly.

Not sure if I just had issues hearing the high pitches properly. Maybe it just got a little bit worse than the last audiogram.

Dynamo is the latest.

I just looked at your audiogram. Wow! I wish you all the best. Hope you find something that works for you.

You’re starting to scare me. I hope its just a fluke and I was just ignorant in hearing the higher frequencies.

Try putting the audiogram numbers in your signature, you don’t need to show the graph. WOW! I’d stick with the Naida’s if they are working for you.

I’m not familiar with the info after 1.5k, that’s why I posted the graph. In addition, not sure how to interpret the bone conduction info.

I know how the Naidas sound, so if I can’t get any better with Oticon, Phonak will be my next big bet.

I had finally got a response that I was tested with the Chili model. My audi also said he will test me with the Oticon Dynamo 10 model once the demo comes in (this coming Friday). I know I was missing the bass sounds in the Chili, so I’m curious how Dynamo will do better. Can anybody tell me the major differences in Chili and Dynamo? TIA

Leo

Your audiogram is missing in both iterations.

Thanks for the info, sig has been updated.
