Phonak L90-RT constant white noise when in silent room

Hello! This year marks my 10th anniversary wearing a hearing aid and to “celebrate” this I just this week got a new Phonak L90RT. I don’t have tinnitus and have good hearing in my left ear so I only wear one on my right. I however must say that I am sadly not that impresed with the L90 and am starting to wonder if there is anything wrong with it.

Before I got this one I first had one by Siemens and I had a Phonak M90R before getting this one. When I were in a silent room with either of those my hearing aid was silent like I would expect but when wearing the L90 I hear a constant white noise which is driving me insane. Adjusting the noise reduction in the phonak app lowers it but even setting the reduction to max I can still hear it. If I put my old M90 in my “good” ear I can also hear a white noise but it’s nothing that I hear in my bad ear. And before anybody asks, there isn’t any ac or ventelation system that is making me hear the noise.

The hearing test they used for the L90 was very slightly worse than the one for the M90 so I have a litle bit more amplification now but it is quite a minor difference.

Like I said I haven’t experienced this before and even though I might get used to it, it is right now really annoying. Maybee the white noise could be due to having that litle but more amplification but the change in amplification was very minor. Could it be that one of my microphones are damaged? What do you guys think?

I always have some white noise when wearing my hearing aids with open bass domes that Philips uses. I don’t hear it outdoors.

Like my tinnitus, I just ignore it and it doesn’t bother me.

You seem focused on it, and that probably makes it worse. If you can’t ignore it after a month, then either return the hearing aid, or see if your hearing aid professional can adjust the hearing aid to a level that you find acceptable.

At any rate, talk to the person who fitted your hearing.

It sounds like Tinnitus masking may be switched on by mistake in the fitting software.
