I also had an oticon dynamo before. I am currently testing xceed 1. I had xceed 3 and was dissatisfied. In my experience, Oticon xceed 1 is a better hearing aid than Dynamo because I can hear more clearly, I can talk in groups and in noise, but sometimes I can hear well and sometimes not, and it seems to me that the acoustics are the cause. I asked my audiologist to focus as much as possible on my speech and muffle the noise around me. I only have a problem with louder sounds, the hearing aid suppresses them, but as a result I hear too many “sh” sounds.

I absolutely agree about the acoustics. It does make a big difference. I am going on my third day with the xceed 2. It is getting better. I find that I do hear better, more clearly. I still have some metallic / reverberation type noise around some speech but it doesn’t seem as bad as my first day. I’m assuming my brain is adjusting.
I tried speech in noise yesterday, but it didn’t do much for me. I don’t think my audi wanted to make any adjustments until I tried that setting. My husband and I are avid bowlers, and the alley was extremely noisy. I tried the speech in noise program but it didn’t seem any different to me than my every day program. But I was still able to hear my husband when we spoke.
On a plus side, my husband was in the laundry room this morning and said something to me while I was in another room, I heard and answered him without realizing that I actually heard him.
I could not have done that with the Dynamo’s.
So I was pleasantly surprised.
I’m thinking every day will get better and better.

This is a ITE Aid and not a BTE Aid.

Let’s not jump to conclusions. First off the wearer needs time to adjust to the aids. Then the wearer needs to go back to the audiologist for fine tuning. And no hearing aid fixes a heating loss. A lot of people live oticon. A lot don’t, it’s an individual choice. If you don’t like them try a different brand. But nobody should judge a hearing aid based on another individuals experience. That’s not how it works

Not sure what you’re talking about here. We were all talking about me trialing the Oticon Xceeds.
My older brand being Dynamo’s, are also Oticons.
No other brand is mentioned.
Wearing hearing aids for over 25 years now, I know about about adjustment times and fine tuning. That’s why I haven’t gone back to my audi yet.
Maybe a visit next week some time for some fine tuning.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been wearing hearing aids for a thousand years. Each new aid requires an adjustment period. As I said many long time users didn’t like the oticon and went with someone else. Since you’re a long time wearer then you’re right. I understand the point of this thread. You,more than anyone understands about break in periods and adjustments. So are you posting just to say you don’t like the oticon exceeds. Which is fine until I see someone misinterpreting what you’re saying and coming to the conclusion that oticons dont work . Personally I trialed oticons and didn’t like them and went with phonak. But I didn’t come to that conclusion based on just a very short trial period . Especially after one day. Relax,Laura we’re all trying to help each other

Dear SpudGunner, I have worn PHONAK hearing aids practically all my life. When I got the PHONAK NAIDA for testing, the sound processing method did not suit me at all, because the sound seemed unnatural and despite the various corrections made by my Audi, I was tired of this hearing aid and therefore I said goodbye to PHONAK. later there was a Bernafon hearing aid, but it didn’t suit me either, that’s why I’ve had OTICON DYNAMO for five years. I am currently testing the OTICON XCEED 1 and asked my Audi for extreme settings to test their suitability in my case. For the next visit, I will ask for the opposite orientation and this should give me an answer in which direction to position the hearing aid. Overall, OTICON has natural sounds and I like that, but it’s worth knowing all the settings to find what I need to improve the comfort of my life. when someone is talking high tones, the hearing aid cuts through the sounds which in turn makes me hear too much rustling, maybe the problem is in the Speech Rescue settings?

Have you tried the Phonak Paradise P UP aids? I would wait until Oticon comes out with the Xceeds replacements. Xceed is 3 year old technology

I did not try. I’m starting a new, more responsible job (promotion) in September and I need a good hearing aid. Unfortunately, there is a lot of contact with clients and tax obligations (accounting) in my work, OTICON DYNAMO is insufficient. I sent an inquiry to OTICON if they would release a newer version of xceed, but it’s been silent for a month. When a new hearing aid comes out I will first want to test it before making a decision, if it works well I will buy it.

@Joan123: Your comments are interesting and insightful. I found that turning off the frequency lowering feature (sorry, I don’t remember Oticon’s name for it) greatly improved my speech comprehension.

My new audiologist sounds like he’s cut from the same cloth as yours: he’s more than willing to do the extra work necessary to permit me to experiment with different settings to get first-hand knowledge of how they work for me. I find that to be very helpful.

Thank you SpudGunner. When I found this forum, your posts, cvkemp, volusiano and others were very inspiring to me. I am looking for a way to enjoy life in my own way despite the difficulties caused by hearing loss. The path I am following has opened up opportunities for promotion, training and skill improvement, but I am aware of the price I pay for living in an environment that often does not understand my hearing problems. For them, my hearing aids are glasses for vision problems, but they learned to work with me and that makes me happy. The function you are writing about is probably Speech Rescue? I suspect my Audi pushed it to max, literally taking my extreme settings request, so as a result, the highs toned are lowered and I hear too much rustling- At least I think so. My audiologist is almost 60 years old but I love her because she is extrovert, very talkative and I convinced her to ignore the recommended settings and limits because I know my needs and I need to adjust my hearing aid to get the most out of it. I am waiting for the end of the trial period to connect noahlink and program the hearing aid myself, because the visits to my Audi are every two months (refunded), more often it is not possible because it has too many patients.

Okay.
So it’s been 3 months since I started wearing the xceed 2 hearing aids. After a few adjustments I have to come like them very much.
I have had this one problem for the entire 3 months, that we keep trying different adjustments, but cannot seem to correct. I am hoping that someone here may be able to offer suggestions.
In my left ear, I can hear a repeat of everything I say.
My audi calls it an echo. But everything I read on an echo doesn’t sound like what I am experiencing.
My voice doesn’t sound like it’s in a barrel. I doesn’t sound hollow. I just hear a repeat of everything I say. Does this make sense ??
Has anyone here ever experienced this type of problem ?
I thought maybe there was something wrong with the hearing aid, but she says no.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Might be to do with Speech Rescue?

this is not a problem with Speech Rescue, but Laura need to increase the level of the middle sounds and lower the highs.

Could well be if set too strong.

Echo can be an issue with the Phonak SoundRecover 2 so Speech Rescue could be adjusted TO SEE IF IT WOULD HELP!!

If Speech Rescue is activated, lowering the highs won’t really work due to Speech Rescue.

OK Zebry, I will not argue, SpechRescue does not echo in my xceed1, personally, I don’t get any benefit from SpeechRescue, the echo was caused by high sounds, but I emphasize that it was my case.
