@flashb1024: Stock isn’t the issue - I sent my receivers back for longer wires and new moulds.
If the receivers are molded into the ear molds I don’t think they can be reused.
I dunno how it works, Chuck, but they told me they had to send my old receivers back to the lab. And they did. On July 13th.
I can change the wires separately from the receivers.
You are absolutely correct, Chuck, I totally missed that.
My new molds are also of the sealed receiver type.
So, they can’t 3D print a new set of molds with the longer wires, and put new receivers in going on 3 weeks?
Something smells rotten in Denmark, oops, i mean Canada!
Well, I can’t, which is why they had to be sent back to the lab, I guess.
I don’t think it’s that big a deal, given the technology they have. I found this Sonova video interesting:
@flashb1024: Yes, I agree. That’s why I’m so annoyed with Oticon.
“Chief Oticonian” … Hmmm! It does have a certain ring to it, don’t it? Sorta rolls off the tongue!

Chapter Five: The Oticon Slow Boat Has Arrived!
I guess this will be my final post on this subject, since:
- My new 100dB moulds/receivers were delivered today, and they are perfect.
- The moulds fit so well that I literally cannot feel them in my ear canal.
- The receiver wires are now the correct length, allowing the HAs and their microphones to sit correctly and comfortably behind my ears.
- The fitment/tuning of the HAs now matches the strength of the receivers, so - no more feedback issues - and the sound is awesome!
- Oticon sent along a hand-written card apologizing for the delivery delay, which I appreciate (although I have yet to be apprised of what circumstances caused a 7-10 business day turnaround to morph into 17. I suppose I may never know.)
So … it’s amazing what a huge difference to the performance of my hearing instruments that the correct matching of receivers to settings makes.
These Oticon More1s really are the
Bees’Knees
.
[Another member has speculated that @cvkemp Chuck might be enjoying better results than me, but I don’t think that’s possible. I just can’t post any comparisons to emphasize the differences I am noticing because I refuse to put down my old Unitron North Moxi Fit 800s on the grounds that they were incompetently fitted.]
I will, however, stick to my original assessment of these Oticon More devices: they represent a genuinely life-changing improvement in hearing and speech comprehension for me because of the fact that:
A. I very much like the Oticon OpenSound concept, and
B. The instruments are correctly tuned to treat my unique hearing deficiency.
I may not hear fairies singing from behind the red honeysuckle berries, but: I HEAR and UNDERSTAND HerSelf®️, which is, in itself, a little gift from heaven!
