I’ve got a pair of Oticons, they cut out on me all the time. Had one fixed already and it is doing it again, now the other one is as well. Is this common? Pretty dissapointed to spend 6k on a pair of hearing aids and have break basically 3 times just over a year into owning them.

that stinks, but I would recommend getting some ear gears to keep that from breaking and stuff :3

Did you get a service report telling you what the problem was and anything you could do differently to prevent the same problem happening again?

What do you mean by ‘cutting out’?

Ask the specialist what is being repaired so you know what the problem is. Hearing aids are sealed much better, so moisture should be an issue.

by cutting out, i mean the thing just either stops putting out sound, or drops to like half volume, lasts for a few seconds, and then jumps back to normal volume. both of them do this intermittently now and it is starting to drive me crazy.

Boy, I know exactly what you’re referring to. I recently trialed the Oticon Acto MiniRITE hearing aids and they did the EXACT same thing to me. They did it so much that I counted: 25 times in less than 10 minutes. I was sitting in the truck with no radio on. Never could figure out what was causing it but they drove me absolutely BONKERS. I told my audi about it and she called Oticon. Needless to say, they both said the hearing aids weren’t for me. Never did get my problem resolved. Maybe you will with yours. Good luck!

It maybe the compression set too strong that you think it’s cutting out?! The compression will set thing according to what noise is around you and some people think the aids are broken!!

My GN Metrix completely fails from time to time. It usually fails when I’m perspiring, and returns to service when they have had a chance to dry out. When completely dry, I wore it for two hours as a test with no problem. At that time, I got tired of testing and concluded that moisture has been my problem. I do not know if it has become permanently damaged.

This may or may not be the OP’s problem.
