Oticon Acto Speaker Wire?

The wife and I have oticon acto aids. On hers the wire between the in the ear speaker and the part on the back of the ear seems to be extra long and thus she has a kind of loop sticking out from her head so that hair, hand etc. get caught on it. My question is this. What do these wires actually do? Is it fine speaker wire with a casing or what. How much if any bending will they take? I guess the question actually is, are they one size fits all. Another question would be cost to replace the wire if I do break it by trying to bend it to fit. Anyone with experience doing this. The wire seems to have some memory of it’s own but I have bent mine a little and got them to fit better but I really don’t want to do something stupid that would cost a ton. Thanks Dunk
