All I said was that Costco’s update was much faster than mine. It was hypothesized that it was related to their internet connection. I truly don’t know, but I wasn’t trying to claim that the minipro is slow.
@audiometrix_hearing
As you have done here, in the future keep stating your price and what all is included. If you come along here in the future saying that you now offer the mini-Pro then state your price. I personally frown upon the marketing technique of saying you’ll beat prices. Beat prices to begin with. Not after to compete. This is just a retailing philosophy comment. Do whatever you like of course.
@Volusiano : What is this connect time you state? What are you measuring? That seems extremely long.
In Genie 2, after I select Detect, and the icons for the OPNs appear as detected, the next step is to connect the HAs. After you click Connect, it shows a selection of the receiver size. After selecting the receiver size, it asks if you want to select the setting from Genie 2 or the setting from the instrument. The connect time is when I select the setting from the instrument until the time Genie 2 allows me to start working on its menus/tabs.
@Volusiano
Wow. Interesting that you’re seeing those differences with the devices.
When I first connected to my HA’s to download/save the original settings I really don’t think it took that long. Nor did I time it I would’ve been wondering…really!!! But I use Rexton Connexx with KS7’s. So for us to compare wouldn’t be apples.
Yeah, I would suppose that the Rexton Connexx software would have a different connect time than Genie 2. I would agree that the Genie 2 took a long time to connect (70 or 80 seconds is long to me, 20 seconds is acceptable). But it’s not on Genie 2 alone because the FittingLINK 3.0 wireless device took only 20 seconds. So the extra connect time of the HiPro1 or MiniPro is due to the hardware.
But 80 seconds may be long for the hearing professional who have to do this a dozen times a day. For us self programmer, it’s an acceptable wait anyway.
We always set our prices at the lowest to start with. Sadly we can’t keep track of all the competition, but if we ever hear they are lower, we beat them.
Your measured times to read the (obviously very large amount of data on the Opn 1) seems to indicate that the USB Hi Pro 1 is faster than the mini Pro at reading the OPN 1 settings.
His Hi Pro 1 is real. This is a fake (Sorry for poor picture quality)
However, this doesn’t change my recommendation that the mini Pro is currently the best option for DIY self programming. You can’t easily get the Hi Pro 1, real or the Chinese counterfeit Hi Pro 1 because that one is flagged/removed from EBay for Trademark infringement, because you can’t call it a Hi-Pro. Sometimes you might see one called a mini pro with tape over the Hi Pro name on the front.
Agreed. Trying to find a real Hi-Pro on your own will be a huge headache.
However, for now, I have a small supply of real Hi Pros if anyone needs one.
Well that’s interesting. We learned some time ago that the fake Hi-Pro was the one with the black bar over the name. Is that just tape or is it the whole stick-on image? I ask because wasn’t there a time when the fakes were being sold that they DID have the Hi-Pro wording there which triggered GN to order them taken down for trademark infringement?
So how does one REALLY tell a fake?
The fakes that had the word Hi-Pro were stickers. A real hi-pro is painted on.
@audiometrix_hearing: Thanks. While I’m here…it would be helpful for non-US customers to have your regular phone number on your website. I know you had an earlier post in another thread where you provided it but the website would be more complete.
@pvc: For clean and easy I agree with you. Now, for cost and having the proper real product it’s hard not to walk away from audiometrix’s offer.
Like I said…I have my mini-Pro. I’m a little choked about the price from Buyhear to now have this offer but it’s too much of a hassle for me to bother switching.
Were working on getting the 1-800 number working internationally as well.
I believe that the identification of true or false should not only look at the shell, but should check the internal modulation scheme of the product.
That quality inspection seal with the hand written signature and date and all sure makes it look all legit! Do you guys think that a clone will bother with that level of detail?
Looks real to me. Is the word Hi-Pro a sticker or is it painted?
