New hearing aids

I will be buying new hearing aids for the first time. Im a senior citizen with mild to moderate hearing loss
And Im trying to sort things out
I just read the thread on the Siemens pure 700 and the comments seem to be mostly about complaints of noise feedback. Any comments on bernafon, phonak yes, or widex hearing aids . Any suggestions on
which brands give quality performance and have a reliable record. I dont use a cell phone much so wireless technology is not a priority. Any imput would be appreciated

Hi bffatcat,

Just search through the threads in this forum.

There are plenty of comments on all aids.

The major brands are Phonak, Siemens, Oticon, Widex, Bernafon, Unitron, GN Resound, Starkey, Sonic Innovations. There are also smaller providers who specialise in self programming, like America Hears. The UK has an outfit called Puretone who supply their own aids and Hansanton aids from Germany. There are numerous other smaller manufacturers and providers.

Some of these manufacturers are related. Phonak and Unitron are both owned by Sonova Group. Oticon and Bernafon are owned by the Wiliam Demnant Holding Group.

Phonak, Siemens and Oticon have the largest market share, and I think it’s fair to say that these manufacturers have the aids that are most preferred by audiologists and hearing aid wearers. However, Unitron, Bernafon and Starkey also have good reputations, and I have seen lots of positive noises about America Hears in the states.

Good luck !

Graham

correction— Sonic In is a small player… They would prob. get out of business soon
