I am looking for new hearing aids, but the costs are too high for me. Even with the government subsidy of 500 dollars per ear. I wonder if anybody knows of any discounts/additional subsidies that I could get. I have investigated a site called ‘Deafaccess’ but don’t qualify because I make too much(more than 51,000). Thx (aurora, ontario)

Cheapest way to go would be COSTCO for about 2000-3000 dollars a pair. Would it be possible to buy just one (not knowing your audiogram)???
Programming/adjusting by the audiologist is critical regarding the sound quality…we are NOT all the same and the “BEST FIT” is NOT always good!
Good luck my Canadian friend…

As a new HA user, I vote for Costco, and heartily endorse the notion that the person who fits your HA’S is the key to success. The initial computer designed fitting may get you close, but sound quality (depending on your degree of impairment) really is about the skill of the person doing the final touches. One key I have found is to make sure the fitter understands the effect of compression on sound quality, and how to adjust compression at different frequencies to produce natural sound.
