Linx 2 - 77 from the VA

I just got a pair of Resound Linx 2 77 from the VA.

Firstly: I installed the app and it works but all I only have three programs not 4 as all the literature says. I have “All-Around”, “Restaurant” and “T-Phone”. Is this because the Audiologist only programmed 3?

Secondly: Using the app I try to adjust the Bass & Treble and it comes up but blocked with a text that says “Your hearing aids are set to increase amplification over a brief period of time, while you adapt to them. After this period the bass and treble settings will be enabled.” Does any one know how long the period is?

Thirdly: Since the VA is a two hour drive can I take my HAs to the nearest Beltone dealer to have adjustments and the like performed? I know I will have to pay for this but was curious if anyone has tried this.

I am sure I will end up with other questions as I learn what my HAs can do.

Thanks in advance

Clint

The 3 programs you mentioned are the ones that come with the factory default settings. As for the adaptation process, it defaults to 4 weeks, but could be as short as 1 week or as long as 6 months depending on what settings your audi selected. And I don’t know if your local Beltone dealer would be willing to adjust your aids.

Where in KY could you be 2hrs from a clinic?

What adjustments do you want?

Are these your first aids?

Do you have another VA appt scheduled?

Did you ask for the PhoneClip+ and the TV Streamer 2?

Why the BTE instead of RIE? Domes or custom molds?

Could you post your audeo-gram?

return to top

I am close to a clinic - BUT - the VA only does HAs at the Hospitals that have an Audiologist, and the closest to me is Marion IL.

I would like some more and different programs.

Yes

No - I could make an appointment and wait another 3 to 5 months.

Nope - didn’t know about them and fairly sure they would not have given them to me unless I could prove I need them.

With the VA you don’t get to choose what you get. You get what they give. And I got domes - if they had suggested molds I would have declined HAs all together, as I don’t think I could stand to have my ears fully blocked. This question is not germane to the questions I asked.

I assume you mean Audio-gram. I suppose I could but again I don’t see how that is germane to the questions I asked.

Further reading of my papers indicates that my HAs are LiNX2 9s not 7s. I don’t know how much a difference it makes as I see very few features that the 9s have over the 7s. One is “Spatial Sense”

Well sounds like you all the answers… Doesn’t sound like it would worth my effort.

Seriously??

Hey Clint… If you don’t want help getting what you deserve from the VA so be it! You are only screwing yourself.

Hey Clint… Lighten up, post more replies, have a conversation, this is how you get to 10+ posts real easy.
Here’s how to >>post your audiogram<<
It will let ppl know how much help you need.

Hey Clint… Have you figured it out yet?

Your right in saying that there is little difference on the face of it. However the spacial sense (or communication between two aids) can be be a major one. You have the highest variant of that particular aid.

Many programmes can be set only 4 can be set on the aids at the same time. In practice other than Auto it is unlikely you would need many more at the same time. I have setting 4 to car or van mode to cut out a lot of background noise. Your audi needs to set theseup for you to see them in the app.

You audiogram would help others here see your loss and then they can make comment about suitability of the type of aid prescribed, domes molds etc, for your loss, rather than what may be your preference.

The phone clip will give you some remote control and a better quality of sound over the direct connect to iphone function. I use it rarely noways. That said it is good if you use your mobile hands free a lot.
