Yes of course, it would do.
This wasn’t LE Audio or Auracast. How should that work? It is the features of the Resound Nexia, I had a similar experience with them when I was in a Restaurant I could suddenly hear voices that weren’t in this room but I think in the room next to us. I was realy surprised and perplex and that was the reason I didn’t took them.
I checked back with my audiologist. It was a branch of Aldi, not Lidl as I mentioned before.
Jabra’s EP 20 are the same as Nexias. Still, it is unlikely that it was Auracast as you have to explicitly pick up the broadcast.
There’s a feature of BT called advertising beacons, which might have been inadvertently enabled since they moved into a more open BT standard.
Nonetheless it has to be a bug.
Yes, especially since you need to enable “Listen to Auracast Broadcast” in the Bluetooth HA settings in the first place. It is off by default.
This is interesting. I do know hearing devices can sure reach out and grab sounds we don’t expect. The focusing ability can be very strange when not expecting it.
The newer aids all have this if selected or in a particular program and since many new aids automatically change programs your aids may have automatically gone into a focusing program. My CI processors will also do this. An example is in loud places. By turning your head you can direct your hearing in a particular direction. Amazing technology.
I just realized this is a LE Audio thread. Sorry to get off topic.
I was reading about Samsung’s upcoming One UI 6.1.1. release and saw this:
- Improved Bluetooth Connectivity: Better performance and new features for Bluetooth devices.
I am curious if some of the fixes to LE Audio and dual mode phones from Android 15 beta 3 made it into this release.
I read somewhere else that One UI 7 may be delayed… In part to the One UI 6.1.1 release.
One UI 6.1.1 could be released in August:
I’m pretty sure Android 15 won’t show up until One UI 7.
Me either. I was wondering if they would pull thos specific patches out… Not the whole of Android 15 of course.
I just don’t get most of the dialogue through tv sound systems, so I was thinking of getting a soundbar. Then I thought why not a soundbar with LE Audio? I found two possibilities. The Denon is slightly less than double the price of an Oticon streaming box but is something everyone in the house gets benefit from. So, when people wonder what the point of LE Audio is, I’d point to this.
https://www.denon.com/en-gb/product/sound-bars/dht-s218/DHTS218GB.html
Do you know if it outputs LE Audio or is it only used as an input (receiver)?
I only know what’s in the articles but I assumed that they output LE Audio. I can’t think of a use case where they’d take it as input.
I checked the DHT-S218 and it looks like it takes LE Audio as Input source, to make it possible to play music from an Android device with LE Audio. Unclear if it also outputs LE Audio.
Thanks for the link. This quote makes me think that it outputs LE Audio.
“This unit supports Bluetooth LE Audio. To listen to Bluetooth LE
Audio, select “LE-Denon DHT-S218” while using a device that
supports Bluetooth LE Audio.”
Also
“To listen to Bluetooth LE Audio on an Android smartphone that supports Bluetooth
LE Audio, the software must be Android 13 or later.”
I don’t know how I didn’t see a use case for LE Audio as input. It’s a speaker. You might want to use it as such.
Here’s the manual for the Philips. https://www.documents.philips.com/assets/20240403/436cbae1fc964ff4a657b147006b2740.pdf
It’s not totally clear, but I think this device uses LE Audio as a source only. That rules it out for me.
Before I got the Denon I’d want to get confirmation that using LE Audio won’t mute the speaker. There’s also no way to restrict who can take the broadcast. At least if there is, I missed it.
Edit: Skimming the manual again, I don’t think the Denon supports Auracast. It seems to be connected mode only. So how many connections does it support then?
Good point! Just the kind of question I would forget to ask - so disappointing if it can’t. I like this soundbar for the LE audio plus the fact that I can connect my existing subwoofer. So many soundbars don’t let you do that. To my knowledge the only other mfr. that let’s you is Yamaha.
There’s new Auracast enabled portable mic from Beltone [if I remeber correctly it’s a rebrand of Resound/Jabra].
In theory it should work will all hearing devices since Auracast is universal, unless they did something specific to prevent this.
Also, is it meant as an Auracast receiver or transmitter…? As a receiver it would be kinda pointless since their hearing devices are Auracast enabled themselves.
There is a lot of legacy equipment out there with no LE Audio. Those folks must be thinking, “wouldn’t it be nice….”
WH
That might be it. Well at least things are slowly moving along.
So this’ll be a great upgrade for the new Nexia models (that may be released soon) I use the original for tv, brilliant for when out at friends place for movies/games night, it’s actually not a bad little mic, not quite in the same league as Roger microphone but only 1/4 the price!
