Jabra pro 10 Problems. Get extremely loud, then get extremely quiet

This is my first post to this forum. I would like to get input as to problems I’m having with my aids and if anyone else has experienced the same.
I bought my Jabra Pro 10 aids at Costco on 12/31/22. Everything was great for six months. One day while traveling in my car I heard a “hissing” noise in the left ear and everything got extremely loud. If I tapped the left aid, I could hear it in the right and vice versa as if they were connected. After a few minutes they got very quiet to the point that I could not hear the person next to me talking. I later realized this was the same as “Hear in noise”, but it was not turned on. I never used that program. I was told by the Costo rep that this was normal. I knew it wasn’t. Over the last 2 years this has continued. My hearing was retested; there were numerous adjustments, the receivers have been replaced with larger ones, I was even talked into buying a dehumidifier for the aids. Ultimately, they gave me new aids. Everything was great for about four months, then it all started again. The specialist at Costco was going to contact the manufacture, but I don’t know if she has. This very frustrating even the slightest noise sets it all in motion. The hear in noise has been removed from my app. Nothing seems to work. Has anyone had this problem? Did you find a solution? In closing I must say that the Costco people have been great and have genuinely tried to help.
Thanks.

That is interesting. I am experiencing a different version of this issue with Jabra Enhance $1599 at Costco. I am getting the buzzing or screeching noise on and off in my right ear. In the left ear I have a dome and no problem. In the right ear, I have a cone with two slits down the side. Not sure why? I tried a dome in the right ear with much reduced buzzing/screeching but it becomes painful. Are there different size domes or cones? Is the cause some feedback from poor fit? Any information would be appreciated.

This is caused by the operation of the sound focusing software which can be selected automatically by the All Around program if it thinks that is appropriate. Your audiologist can easily change this in the fitting software. He needs to look at the advanced settings for the All Around program. Deleting Hear in Noise from the app won’t make any difference at all, as you have discovered. Your Costco people may be great and trying hard to help, but basically aren’t trained properly!

Incidentally the two aids are indeed connected together, by wireless and so hearing a noise from one ear in the other one is perfectly normal and correct.

It’s poor fitting by your audiologist that leaves you with feedback in one ear. They can easily adjust that. One approach would be to use the same dome type in both ears. They are different because your hearing loss isn’t the same in both ears. And yes you can get different size domes. If you go too small then you are likely to get feedback again and the aid may fall out of your ear. But too large and that hurts and probably won’t work well at preventing feedback. You may also need a different length of wire. But any audiologist can sort this out. It’s all simple and well understood.

Thank you for your help. I will pass this along to my Costco rep.
