iPhone or Android in 2022?

Thank you also for the other points you made. I very much appreciate the detail you went into but although I have the Target software and hardware, I no longer have access to Windows, so I will have to check with my fitter with regard to same.
In the meantime, I am using a small bone conduction device above my hearing aids to listen to laptop audio in lieu of using the TV Connector, and have my HAs set to a custom program for my sweetheart’s extremely soft voice.

Interesting!!!

iPhone caters for connectivity and apps far better than android

Nate: I stream a lot with my Mac desktop that has bluetooth. Would I need to disable BT on my hearing aids to use the AfterShokz with my desktop on Zoomcasts, etc.?

Emjay, I think that would depend on how many bluetooth devices your Mac can connect to simultaneously. If you go to: Menu Bar/ Apple/About this Mac/Overview/System Report/Bluetooth/Devices (Paired, Configured, etc.)
it should provide this information for your Mac.
My current Mac is a MacBookAir 2020 M1, but I believe it also worked on my previous MacBookPro mid-2012.

Thanks a lot, Nate. Bluetooth on my Mac shows paired, configured, not connected. I’m not terribly tech savvy so wouldn’t have found it without your help. I currently use TV Ears with television but have lousy speakers connected to my Mini. Rather than upgrading the speakers, I’ve been looking at the AfterShokz that could also replace the TV Ears. Two birds… Thanks for your help: I’m needy

Good luck, Emjay!
Sounds good. I hope they work for you.
I am really enjoying mine.

I recently switching to an Iphone 14 after only having previously used Android and immediately I am surprised how much nicer apps on IOS are compared to Android.

The iOS is more smooth and streamlined, and it usually feels like apps are optimized better for iOS.

I am an android person, but my main phone has been iPhone for about 3.5 years. I used to modify my android by rooting it and putting custom ROMs on it. Those days are basically over, due to security features. So, now I also have a line on an android phone. I like them both. I have my HAs (more1) connected to the iPhone, though because of MFI, which makes a difference. Oddly enough the WiFi radio on my android is superior the one on iPhone. I get consistently higher speeds through the Google Pixel 7 vs the iPhone 13 pro max

My experience has been the opposite. Even though I have been a loyal, dedicated Mac user since their introduction in 1984, I find it impossible to work with iOS - Can’t stand my spouse’s iPad and find friends’ iPhones to be clunky to operate. My cell phone has always been an Android.

I have just switched to the S23 android phone from iPhones, which I have used for the last 9 years. I still have and use an iPad. Why did I switch you May ask, well it was due to cost and availability of carrier service in my area. I use Consumer Cellular and my wife has always used the Samsung Notes and has always had better service than me, so I am giving Samsung a chance. The switch is challenging to get started as I am having to get use to the different OS and app arrangements. But what is surprising is how well my Oticon More1 aids are doing with connectivity to the S23. I am finding while I am missing some features that the connection is rock solid. And for the first time that I have easy use of my aids on either the S23 or my iPad the switch between them is great.

The ReSound app works better for me on my wife’s iphone SE 2020 than on a Galaxy S20 5G. I really hate Apple, but I think I’m going to switch to an SE, 2020 version or 12 mini.

Phonak has the best connectivity. I use a Samsung S21 FE. Works perfectly with the Phonak Lumity. I would never buy an Apple product unless i had to.

I should correct that statement. Before the iPhone was introduced and Android had not yet been invented, I communicated with the first HandSpring, invented by the original founders of the Palm. I carried it with me everywhere, it worked perfectly and was quite dependable, and I had no trouble syncing it with my then Mac. But of course back then there was no connectivity with my Phonak HAs.

Update
I updated my S23 last night to android 14 and the Samsung U1 version 6. Yes it is still a beta version but so far it is very stable. The only changes i have noticed is with the control panel. There is more information there without digging into the system app. I haven’t noticed any changes with hearing aids and no connectivity issues.

I have had time to work with the new updates, connectivity with my More1 aids is very good, I have no regrets about saying goodbye to my iPhone. I am having seamless integration with my aids, the S23, my iPad, the connect clip, and the TV Adapter. It amazes me that the same capacity isn’t available with the iPhone and iPad.
I use the connect clip to stream from my Fire tablet that I use because of the text to speech capabilities with the Kindle app on the Fire tablet.

Update 2:

Make sure to delete the pairing of the aids from the phone. Restart the phone and in case if the Oticon aids delete the companion app before the restart.
Download the own app after the restart then pair the aids to the phone and app.
I found a glitch that when making or receiving calls that the phone app, whether the Samsung phone app or the Google phone app will disconnect the hearing aids and default to the phone speaker as a basic phone.

That has been my experience too. My KS9s (aka Phonak Marvels) with the latest version of the myPhonak app are working absolutely great - solid, reliable connection and clarity.

I’m really proud of you, Chuck!
For a guy who said he was done with tech stuff & just wanted to enjoy his easy to use iPhone, you’ve become an android beta tester!!
Welcome Home!

Curious what motivated you to update to a beta version of Android 14? Glad it’s working for you ok.

Call me bored I guess. I haven’t had any problems with it other than every once in awhile an app will fail to open the first time.
My Oticon More1 aids have worked great. The companion app works great i haven’t had the connectivity problems i had my my iPhone. And i am loving that my aids are paired and connected to my phone and iPad and connect clip all at the same time for seamless streaming from any of them as I need to.

I’m so glad they work for you.

If the industry was well everyone would have good experiences.
