Apparently iOS 17 will allow transcription of IMessage voice messages into text. This is a great feature for me as I don’t always have my HAs and just want to run silent.

It would also really help me (and many, many others) if iMessage voice messages left in French and Spanish (my second and third languages) can be transcribed but not sure that’s supported yet.

You can do that now. I do it by asking siri to “read text”

This is the feature I’m talking about. It’s transcribing voice text messages — not transcribing voicemails and not reading text (both of which are available now)

“ Another big improvement is the ability to view a transcription of voice messages — a feature that’s always been more convenient for the sender than the recipient, who doesn’t always have time to listen. Now, these messages are transcribed so you can read them instead, if you don’t have time or a quiet place to play them back, for example.”
