Interpreting Audiogram Results

I recently had an audiogram, the results of which I’ve posted below. I was told I have cookie bite hearing. I’d greatly appreciate it if someone would provide me with an explanation of these results and what it might mean in terms of:

  1. the exam comments,
  2. my severity of hearing loss (mild, moderate, moderately severe, or profound), and
  3. the type of hearing aids that I might expect to be steered towards?

Exam Comments: pure-tone average 57dB AD 67dB AS
Absent left ipsi and contra reflexes
Absent right ipsi at 4000Hz and all right contra reflexes.

Speech Reception Threshold (SRT): Right Ear 50, Left Ear 70
Word Recognition (SWR) (Type: NU-6) Right Ear 80% AD, Left Ear 76% AS

1000.Hz L-75 R-55
2000.Hz L-75 R-65

  1. the exam comments, Look at the shape of the curve on the audiogram for your right ear.
  2. my severity of hearing loss (mild, moderate for your R ear, moderately severe for your left ear, or profound), and
  3. the type of hearing aids that I might expect to be steered towards? I’d recommend BTEs but you’ll have many options.

Speech Reception Threshold (SRT): Right Ear 50 dB needed for comfortable speech reception, Left Ear 70
Word Recognition (SWR) (Type: NU-6) Right Ear 80% AD, Left Ear 76% AS
Ability to repeat common words noted at % of success

This is the amount of hearing loss by ear at the noted frequencies. Loss is in dB (decibel).

I think he meant hearing in noise test or speech in noise.
