I’ve learned so much this week, in my quest to get my backup Marvel M70s, somewhere near my (professionally programmed) Paradise P90s.

Thanks to @Zebras , I managed to disable Sound Recover2, which was inappropriate to my loss, and totally confused me. I also followed her advice and ran the Target feedback and real ear tests. I also reattached my vented custom moulds. Rather than adjusting the MPO’s, I’ve been adjusting the 3 gains. The results are far better than previous efforts. Strangely, I have no occlusion, unlike previous efforts, and I feel there’s no evidence of upwards masking.

Yesterday, I took them to my challenging environment (the pub). There were lots of separate conversations going on around me. I wore my P90s at first. It was challenging to pick out individual conversations, but doable. I switched to the M70s and all they needed was one 3dB increase in the “high” on the graphic, to make them virtually identical. My question is this:

I still have some headroom on the G65 & G80 gains, but the G50 gain looks maxed out. Is there any point in me trying to push it past the line, especially around the the 4kHz area?

My next visit to the challenging environment will be Sunday

Thanks again

Peter

The hearing aid has less gain at the 4K mark anyway. That’s the hearing aid and nothing to do with you.

If you want to fake the feedback test even more to get more gain at the higher end, just hold on to the end of the tube once the dome has been taken off and then re run the feedback test.

Obviously don’t have it in your ear as you’ve got to hold on to the end to completely block the hole.

I’ve done this with my Step Mums Aids and she has more gain at higher frequencies but also no feedback.

Just seen you’ve put moulds on them, block the hole with your finger that way.
