I have Phonak Spheres with the standard power domes that come with them. Many here use custom molds and say they would never go back to domes. I tried custom molds with a previous set of HAs and I didn’t like how the receiver wires stuck straight out of the molds horizontally, rather than discreetly bending up and around my ears like the dome wires do.
Is it possible to get receiver wires for molds that do not stick straight out? Or is it possible to bend the wires somehow to achieve the discreet bend I want? Is there a way to make the custom mold experience less visually obvious? Thank you.
cShell molds have two choices for connecting the wire to the molds. I believe you might be interested in the anterior tube outlet which shows the wire entering the mold vertically rather the standard method called the standard tube outlet.
This info can be found in the cShell ordering form on the Phonak site.
Just curious: would you ever be able to share a photo of that aid with the Sphere + standard power dome?
I ask cuz I have used power domes forever on my Phonaks. They will never be as good as a custom mold, but I’ve always had allergic reactions to the custom mold material - whether they are made from firm silicone or acrylic.
I’d give the custom mold a try again if I didn’t have that reaction. What does the setup look like? I’d also be annoyed if a wire stuck out like a coat hook. Had that issue with size LONG wire. Now I have size S-Med wires on my Phonaks and the wire fits close to my ear.
I have custom molds and the wires do stick out much more then dome wires; I just decorated mine with jewerly. I figured they were sticking out might as well embrace it and make it pretty
I have seen a product called Vanish that is a pigment dye set that you use to color the receiver wires the same as your skin tone making them almost invisible in some circumstances. Might help
