Thank you, I did not know about the 5 stores. I will look into it! thanks!
Spain has Universal healthcare, however, HA, glasses, dentist,… are out of the healthcare system.
If your hearing loss is severe/profund you have a little rebate from the government, but it’s difficult to match the requirements.
@Yellow_Bird just in case, you can check the requirements
Costco, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Sevilla and 2 in Madrid.
Remote follow-up appointments also.
Yes, I am definitely lucky enough to live relatively close to 1 of the 5 stores in the entire country! So we’re going to Costco
Thank you very much Homer. We will go to Cotsco to look, I think that is the best option. We have a store nearby.
However, could you reference me some post or address to see and learn about DIY and programming of these devices?
I would like to learn more, it is a very interesting subject and I have some technical knowledge. It is already pure interest out of curiosity.
Regarding the rest I will tell you, when we go to the store I will comment to see how it goes.
Best regards
I don’t think you’ll find a better location online than the Hearing Aid Self-Fitting and Adjusting [DIY] category on this site.
There’s a wealth of knowledge and freely available information there, provided over the years by many extremely helpful contributors.
Obviously, in order to do any DIY, you need to have a good understanding of what it is that you’re trying to achieve with the Hearing Aids you’re working on. There are so many ways to make the devices perform slightly differently that, without such an understanding, you would be tweaking settings ‘in the dark’ and could end up making quite the mess of someone’s devices.
I find that this book Fitting and Dispensing Hearing Aids by Taylor and Mueller to be an invaluable guide. Perhaps it is also available in Spanish?
Obviously, you would need a device that connects the HAs to the computer on which the manufacturer’s fitting software operates, if you wish to actually program your HAs… Many manufacturers use the Noahlink Wireless device for later models of their HAs, but older models use a much more proprietary method of communicating during programming.
