HAs firmware update (Phonak, Unitron)

Hello everyone! Does someone know how the firmware updates in HAs work?
Is it possible to update firmware in HA Phonak Audeo Q to make it higher class? For example, to make Q90 from Q50 just updating the firmware? Why i’am asking - i saw the surdologist making the same thing with Unitron Moxi Kiss: he took Moxi Kiss 20 and updated it to Moxi Kiss Pro.

Only Unitron hearing aids have this feature. It’s called Flex:upgrade. Users can trial a higher technology level and then decide whether or not they want to keep the new functionality.

hmm, interesting. Thank you for your explanation.

So the technology is built in and just pay if you want it while it while it is free for the audi and manufacture?

No we pay for unlock codes to do the upgrades. The manufacturer makes the profit on the upgrade if you decide to lock in the Flex Upgrade.

Not a provider, but should you get “something” as with the upgrade you must add whatever feature and ensure that it is working properly with everything else, or is that a minimal amount of work for you?

It’s pretty minimal extra work, so usually doesn’t command a price premium. Usually helps if the client isn’t satisfied with their previous model level.
