I meant which “additional features” do they have that no one else has, that’s interesting.
The Horizon hearing aids are made by WS Audiology and are very similar to the latest line of Signia hearing aids. Signia’s AX platform, which uses dual processor technology and which these Horizon hearing aids use, and does represent something which no other hearing aids are using AFAIK. Doctor Cliff called this innovation potentially “a game changer” in the hearing aid industry. But their top of the line hearing aids don’t come cheap.According to their website, they cost $199 a month for 36 months. That’s almost $7200 per pair.
Signia has also been a leader in reducing the size of hearing aids in the last few years. I think it’s got something to do wit their battery technology (?) so that the hearing aid doesn’t need to be as big. The tiny Horizon Mini X in particular benefits from this so that it can fit into the canal and be almost invisible.
The Horizon hearing aids are duplicates of what appear to be identical Signia hearing aids? I have no idea if this resulted as a collaboration between Horizon and WSA as claimed or not. But it doesn’t really matter because as far as I can tell Hear, com is in fact one of the brands within WS Audiology, so they’re all the same thing.
As you posted here, I just wanted to share my experience filling out the online questionnaire that I got (from a link in an online news website). I was intrigued - not just the 45-day free trial, but I wondered if there was any model out there to compare with the Phonak Lumity Life aids I ended up buying last summer. I’m happy with these, but ALWAYS on the lookout for the next best thing in terms of hearing better, or other features.
I bailed halfway through the questionnaire cuz the questions were too one-dimensional: e.g., “In what type of hearing situations do you experience difficulties?” Truth is, several on that list, but I only got to pick ONE. That bugged me. Then I got another question, “Why are you looking for new hearing aids?” Again, I wanted to select SEVERAL on the list, but could only pick one. That’s when I bailed.
I just figured that the answers accepted would bias who I’d be sent to in my area. Maybe revise your online questionnaire?
I did a lot of online research to review and select an audi in my area when I relocated here 1.5 yrs ago. I’m SUPER happy with her, so I’d also wonder what the qualifications were of the clinic I’d be sent to if I completed the online form.
Well, perhaps I’m not your ideal prospective customer … but I read a lot about hear.com and would’ve been open to pursuing the link if the questionnaire did a better job of capturing my real needs. Thanks for coming to the forum here, cuz I LOVE it when a company reaches out to us here. We are YOUR target market.
I just clicked on the link and see the usual features: “nearly invisible”, “connected to all devices”, “unrivaled speech clarity” and “rechargeable”. There appear to be two models: Horizon Go AX (very visible BTE) and Horizon Mini X (the tiny one).
Hello,
We appreciate your feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our services. However, the questionnaire is just a general base to get you started before speaking with one of our consultants. The answers you select do not predetermine what provider you will be sent to. Once the questionnaire is completed, one of our consultants will reach out to you to learn more about your experience with hearing loss, why you are interested in new hearing aids, etc. After your hearing evaluation and are fitted with the devices, your 45-day trial begins.
Also, please know that we vet all of our contracted partner providers and send you to the nearest one to your location. We also offer Teleaudiology services should you prefer virtual and remote appointments or if there is not a provider in your area.
If you are still interested in learning more about our Horizon hearing aids, I would encourage you to complete the questionnaire or reach out to us directly.
All the best,
Customer Success Team

OK thank you so much for clarifying that “qualification” process. It sounds intriguing …
Not sure about Hear.com, but I checked with an audi with a similar middleman, and they only worked with 3 major mfrs. She explained these were the 3 they were trained on. I know this audi doc and she is highly competent with 15+ years experience and her partner has the same level of experience.
I wonder how well HCPs can provide service on all major brands? Each brand is different and it may be asking too much to have the HCP sell and service all major brands.
They should offer all brands from the big 5, remember the clinics don’t (service) all they can offer is receiver’s and domes/batteries, anything else is sent to the manufacturer, they would only need to stock these replaceable items, the HAs are then ordered per sale, so no stock is held by the clinics, all demo and trial HAs are supplied by the manufacturer, a lot do this still.
Hear.com is an outlet of WS Audiology.
BUYER BEWARE!!! Hear.com is a scam- they are not a company with integrity. My mother purchased hearing aids, and one fell out within just days of her using it. She was only told during her fitting that if she lost one, it would cost $400 to replace, and she had 45 days to return the aids for a refund. Turns out if you loose an aid and pay the $400 they will still charge you the FULL AMOUNT for the original lost hearing aid if you want to return them within your trial period. This was not explained to my mom and when I spoke to management they gave me gave me false information that I could file a dispute with the credit company. When I called the credit company, they informed me no such dispute exists. Do not be fooled, their loss & warranty coverage is misleading and dishonest. It’s a shame to see companies taking advantage of older customers.
Hold up I’m sure there’s a good chance this is a misunderstanding, just to confirm that if you return the aids within the 45 day trial period there’s actually no charge right? But your saying your mum got billed in full for the lost one because she returned within the 45 trial period, so got penalized for not going ahead with the purchase…
not a misunderstanding, 3 hours on phone with customer service.
Ok so they expect people to pay the full amount if you return before the 45 trial period, any chance of a screenshot of the actual terms and conditions that actually state this, sure seems to me that consumer protection laws wouldn’t allow for something like this?
