Resound has released a YouTube video that mentions new Nexia models, but in some ways more interesting for people who inhabit this part of hearingtracker, they also announced the forthcoming release of SmartFit 2.0.

It will be interesting to see what it means for those of us doing our own adjustments of Resound products.

But she does not say when or how to upgrade

Yeah indeed, I remember when they went from Aventa to SmartFit, a step backwards as I thought the UI was horrible, hopefully 2.0 is an improvement.

I’m sure the “how “ will be the same as before. I just hope there won’t be any attempt to make it available only to account holders or whatever.

Anyway, I will look out for it and tell people here what is happening if I see anything worth telling!

It’ll be interesting to see if the NHS equivalent will follow suit as it has done so far mirroring Smart Fit up to v1.18.

As I don’t see new models coming to the NHS range, would the update be a bit redundent?

It’d be backwards compatible for a few models I’m sure, but obviously no need to update unless you had the latest models anyway.

Disappointed they haven’t announced a Nexia model to replace the Enzo Q power plus. I got my hopes up for this announcement :slightly_frowning_face:

Yeah agreed, they should of done this long ago, it does seem that the power users get left behind from all the manufacturer’s.

From the manufacturer’s web site:

“The ReSound Smart Fit 2.0 fitting software and new ReSound Nexia styles, along with the equivalent Beltone Solus Max software™ and Beltone Serene™ models, will be available in US and Germany from 22nd August”

But only ITC and CROS, still no Power (UP) from them, disappointing, the new 2.0 is work flow speed and just “faster clicks” saves a whole 33sec! They have no shame that marketing department ; )

@david.hendon In the video description on YouTube it says “our family completion of ReSound Nexia” and if taken literally this means that there will not be any more models of the Nexia (eg an Ultra Power Nexia model). I just wonder if you have seen this stated anywhere else?

I haven’t seen it anywhere else, but I haven’t looked for it, as it’s not relevant to me currently. Sorry not to be able to help you.

No problem. Thanks David

Watch for a new platform release I’m afraid, if Phonak really has crafted a “holy grail” in the sphere ReSound will be pushing for something to match, it’s unfortunate that the severe/ profound losses seem to get left behind, but it’s not just ReSound, the others are just as bad, Enzo’s and Xceed’s all older stuff now, again only Phonak seems to be making any effort.

You are absolutely right, severe/profound seems to get left behind. I will hang on for another couple of months and will switch brand then. ReSound seems to be focused on the entry level and middle sector.

The download of SmartFit 2.0 is available on the same site as earlier downloads. The update notes say;

Installation includes upgrading to .Net8 and NoahAPIService that enables .NET8 applications to communicate with Noah 4.13 and later (2). For customers with MSI installation .Net8 and NoahAPIService will need to be manually installed prior to installing the fitting software.

Installation instructions:

  1. Download the zipped file to your computer desktop
  2. Extract the zipped files on your desktop
  3. If Aventa 3, or Smart Fit is already installed, make sure it is closed
  4. Run/click the Setup.exe to install

For Noah Users minimum requirement is Noah 4.9, if using AutoRem minimum requirement is 4.13. The Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems, Noah 3 are no longer supported with this version of Fitting Software. Under Settings - Scale and Layout must be set to 100% for text and app size.

I didn’t try to do this update yet though.
