We heard about ASHA quite a while ago, but what percentage of android phones that are available and in the market actually support ASHA? It used to be that you could estimate by looking at the android dashboard, but it’s not working lately (probably because Google is embarrassed at the dismal progress to reduce Android fragmentation). I would guess it’s no more than a few percent (low single digit). As far as I know, ASHA is only available in the latest generation of Pixel phones (which are very expensive, way over priced and not very good phones) and maybe the latest flagship Samsung Galaxy phones. These are well over $1000. I have both an iphone and an android phone and from my perspective, Google is so far behind in this area it’s embarrassing.
Also, just because BT 5.2 chips are available doesn’t mean they are in phones that you can purchase. Phones are typically released on yearly cycles. This is why I estimated 3-5 years before it’s a standard feature on ALL phones, not just on the very highest end flagship phones. I would be happy to be wrong.
