I haven’t but I have so many hearing aid stickers I tend to change them daily.

I find that people tend to be more understanding that I have hearing issues when my HAs are visible versus discreet because I’m a young adult who doesn’t seem like I would need them.

Yes!! Lots of happy kiddos!

Omg this is so cool.

My fitter went on and on about trying to hide HA and the availability of skin tones to hide and I had to interrupt her, if I have to wear a HA, it can be neon, I’ll rock it . I was sad to see my choices were so limited when we narrowed the choices.

Definitely recommend checking out the shops I linked above!

Seriously had me jealous clicking through all those links thinking I should change types as I have ITE.

Maybe I’m weird but I feel like the hearing centers need to showcase things like this. It would help get rid of the stigma that HAs are for old people. I remember getting my first colorful glasses as a kid and feeling a little better, still hated wearing it but I felt better.

Pimp My Hearing Aids / Cochlear Implants FB Page!

I wish I could get some funky colors. With the Jabra (resound one) there is only one form and the only options other than skin colors is red/blue (right ear is red and left blue ) which I went with. Only having one aid right now it’s just the blue but funky colors would be awesome.

I think when I needed to have Costco remake my molds a number of years ago the aids were Resound. At that time they dealt with multiple vendors for molds. I would expect different vendors to have different color options.

JaaCreations has SO MANY stickers including glitter/shiny ones.

@janofh

My friend has RIC Aids and didn’t like the limited choice of colours.

She chose 2 x blue but had the Lab ring her audiologist to confirm that she means 2 x blue and not 1 x red and 1 x blue.

I realise you have 1 x Aid now but don’t think you have to get 1 x blue and 1 x red.

I’m glad my audiologist said we could go through a different company since if I went with phonak I would only be able to get clear

For many years I wore RED hearing aids–because I liked the color and even welcomed a discussion about hearing loss and the benefits of not hiding it. In 10+ years, No One ever commented on them!!! Perhaps they were afraid to? To those people who are afraid folks will ‘notice’ their aids and detect their hearing loss, I say “people aren’t really paying attention–don’t fear hearing aids on that score”!

Exactly! Plus I feel like having people notice can help them understand they may need to change how they communicate so I can better understand them.

The only comment I had was, why are you wearing blue tac in your ears. I had blue ear moulds at the time.

Despite having large hearing aids and currently pink ear moulds, no one notices them. No one realises I’m deaf.

I love the pink! I’m trying to decide between a pink and turquoise swirl or pink and purple swirl

There’s a lot of truth to the fact that people aren’t very observant. But if your loss is severe enough, whether they notice your aids or not, they certainly notice your loss. Also a lot of people probably do see your aids and for whatever reason decide not to to mention them. For me, better they see them.

I have a mild loss currently but that in combination with APD and tinnitus I can definitely struggle so giving my aids something that makes happy to wear them especially being a young adult truly gives me confidence. Plus its helped build my pride in my identity as someone who is being more immersed into Deaf culture.
