@Um_bongo I think you’ve accurately captured the recurring themes, plus the rechargeable versus replaceable battery discussion, that get dragged into a majority of the threads by the suspended members. Thank you for reminding us. I’ve gotten so tired of reading the same diatribes by this crew in so many threads on this forum.
You forgot “Have you tried Costo” as the first response to any post. lol
Good, I agree with the mod assessment of 3 trio… I think @SpudGunner is getting way to carried with off topic bad jokes he made which folks here find offensive. The other 2 were rude / arrogant
And…his usage of Forum PM to further his agenda of personal, private attacks. I can’t be the only one who was on the receiving end of his unwanted, unsolicited abusive communications. No response from me - send another.
@AbramBaileyAuD do you monitor his PM’s? Just so you know, they are not all cheery, friendly correspondence between “internet friends”.
I have meaningful conversations over the private messages with Spudgunner some and I enjoy our private conversations. But I don’t necessarily agree with a lot of his posts I’m the forum. I guess it is the fact that I am an old Navy sailor and it takes a lot to get me upset normally.
What a pleasure to enter this forum and not see Spud’s avatar on every thread imaginable.
What a pleasure to not have to see the prodigy guy following in Spud’s footsteps.
Hass, he didn’t really offend me, however he was quite rude and abrupt to some, and unfortunately was very intimidating to newcomers.
I know I engaged in banter with Spud quite often, because I liked to rattle his cage, but @AbramBaileyAuD is quite justified in his decision to enforce the ban.
It’s kind of like Spring Cleaning, right?
Guys - Do you realize that in “reality land” Hearing Tracker is an open forum that is open to everyone. When someone is banned or removed for various reasons, they can come back as a different poster. Why spend so much time talking about X, Y and Z that were removed or banned last week, when next week they come back as A, B, C.
Unless HT wants to start requiring personal identification information on each poster, this forum can be used by anyone at any time, when they register under a different name. So get a grip on yourself and be happy that the majority of posters here get valuable (and maybe not valuable) hearing related info on a wide range of subjects.
Facebook has 90 million accounts that are fake. So do you really think Spud and group are really banned for life?. Or are they now new poster here - posting on this very topic under a different name and laughing there heads off???
Wow. Not sure why I missed out on those. For me, that’s left the line in the sand about a mile behind. I think if @AbramBaileyAuD knew about that he’d have been gone long ago.
@stevemink , yes of course you are right in what you just posted. But, if they come back in disguise (or a brand new toxic person) then their poor behavior will be noticed and again be denigrated and ultimately removed if the admins do their job.
This is a useful and informative forum. If good men stand by and do nothing against such bad behavior then we live in an increasingly sad world with the danger that such people win.
I think most here have “got a grip” but can also wish to keep this on an even path. Enough said.
They can come back in two weeks as X, Y and Z. New and improved versions hopefully.
What we don’t know is if the forum software tracks IP addresses, giving Abram the ability to block the computers, tablets, or phones they’ve used to post from. If so, they couldn’t access the forum from those devices to even register a new ID.
It will not work though if they use a VPN service.
I do not monitor the PMs. To be honest not even sure there’s a way to. I have no interest in finding out. I prefer not to pry into private matters!
This is the key imho. Also there are limits on new user accounts so even if someone were to resort to a VPN, it would be a painful experience trying to regain posting rights over and over. Also, I suspect this public show of collective frustration would be enough to put anyone off showing their face again, even if we were to readmit. Still dwelling, but now leaning heavily to permanent ban after the outpouring here.
These guys aren’t trolls.
Agree. I think they are just lonely/grumpy and like arguing with people. Some people are just like that. My father in law is like this so I understand. He is a kind person…. Just likes to instigate an argument and then doesn’t know when to stop.
Everyone should bear in mind that all three of the offending people can still read these comments while banned. They just can’t respond. This in itself is a sobering punishment…

I had never thought of somebody being bullied through PMs. Does muting somebody block PMs?
stevemink, I don’t necessarily think that personal identification is the point. Having published standards of behavior or moderation that is based on common decency, and having a way for members to report behavior problems, is more to the point. If Screen Identity A violates the standards, is bounced, comes back as Screen Identity B and adheres to standards, then there is no problem. If Screen Identity B violates standards then Screen Identity B is likewise banned. Getting rid of offensive on-screen behavior, regardless of who it’s coming from, is the thing that keeps the membership active and the forum healthy.
I am for being open to being able to say what matters to me, and also do what I can do to help others. There is the concept of being honest at the same time as being civil and respectful of other people’s feelings and opinions. I have seen times on here that people have said what was important to themselves and be put down because the others didn’t have the same opinion, that is also wrong regardless of how civilized it was done.
