That’s a very inspiring story, I really hope you have a more successful operation this time round.
I just seen this article as well, interesting on ones brain plasticity playing a big part in being successful or not.

@BrBarry this has to have been a tough decision to make.
When I went through the E&E they only offered me the Cochlear implant. This array has 22 electrodes they need to fit in the cochlea.
I have to wonder if one of AB or Med El would work for you better with such limited space in the cochlea. AB has 16 electrodes and Med El has 12. This is just a thought I had but it could be worth considering and discussing with your surgeon.

It is a tough decision process, made even more difficult with your complications. Thought: You have two ears. Do both have similar issues? If the alternative is deafness in the end, you would have two chances to having some hearing. There is no “right” answer, but sounds like you have come to a thoughtful decision.
