Domes to Custom Molds - Wax Filters question

Before I ask this question, I realize we are all unique.

For anyone that has transitioned from domes to custom molds, have you found it necessary to change wax filters more often? If yes, how often?

It makes sense because wax has to get past the domes in order to enter the filter where as the sound outlet of the custom molds goes directly into the ear canal.

When I used domes, I changed filters every 30 days. I transitioned to molds this past January, so still learning, but at times after 2-3 weeks the performance of the aids seems off. Maybe it’s just me.

I wear custom ear molds and have either worn in the ear aids or ear molds for 20 years. I change my wax guards every few months. I use EarGene in my ear canals and apply it 2 to 3 times a week. It is designed for itching but I have found it works wonders for keeping ear wax to a minimum.
