Hi !

Switching from old Naida V SP to Naida Lumity SP, I’m almost there except in noisy situations : I can’t understand speech.
I had Digital AudioZoom on my old HA, how can I set up something similar with the new HA ? AudioZoom was discontinued a long while ago and I’d like to find something somewhat similar in Target but don’t know exactly how…
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

What did AudioZoom do?

There is StereoZoom which is in Speech in Loud Noise program but that’s only available on the L70 and L90.

Not fully sure what AudioZoom did, my best guess would be it’s the ancestor of StereoZoom. Sound wise, it’s reducing the wideness of the sound field.

Which Lumity level do you have, 30,50,70 or 90?

Sorry I thought I replied already :frowning: I’m fitted with an L50

New issue : voices on the left side seem garbled/are trembling, mostly for female voices but it can also be felt with loud male voices. Lowering volume (-1 in the app) somewhat makes it a bit more confortable but if I go lower, left hear is unusable (can’t decipher a thing) and uncomfortable (got a feeling of blocked ear). Any idea what to change to fix this ?

And a quick question if anyone knows : when lowering volume in the app, does it also lower MPO ?

Might be easier to provide screenshots of your settings within Target for others to help you.

Here are the current setups :
Calm :

Comfort in noise :

Speech in noise :

No this is set in target, App doesn’t have control over this.

Yeah your loss on this side is all most off the chart, I’m thinking this is simply damage that can’t be corrected, obviously if you lower the gain it won’t be as noticeable but it doesn’t help with hearing speech, but turn off/ or lower to recommended setting the soft noise reduction, wind block as well, more features set high can cause warble and artifacts especially at such high gains.
One thing when doing DIY project, you can program each side independently, maybe get the left side SR2 a bit stronger and see if that helps as well, good luck

Thanks for all your help !

Left side has been mostly fixed by your recommendations. I suspect my old aids had a hardware issue on the left side (not surprising since they were 15+ years old), I’m hearing things I’m not used to anymore and even when lowering to the max on Target I’m still hearing them (or maybe it was distortion, same result anyway).

Now I’m about 95% there, I have another issue that’s a bit problematic : when people are talking louder than usual, it’s agressive for my ears (wouldn’t say painful but definitely too loud) and I’m having trouble understanding them. I’ve tried adjusting in the MyPhonak app and, other than lowering volume (which causes other issues of course), using the dynamic slider and putting it almost at the max on “decrease loud sounds” is making a great improvement. Any idea what this changes so I can replicate it on Target ?

Decrease loud → reduces G80

Increase soft → increase G50

Hello everyone !

Thank you for your help, I made huge improvements in just 2 days after switching from Phonak Digital Adaptive 2.0 to DSL v5o pediatric and fitting everything from scratch again. Have been at it for 3 months with PDA2.0 and couldn’t fix my issues fully, I used DSL because my old HA were set up with it and… voila ! Problems mostly fixed, now I need to get used to the sounds since my old HA had lots of distortion, but it will be way easier than before since there is nothing painful or disturbing with the settings.

Only issue I’m having at the moment is with NoiseBlock. Does any of you know how it works ?
Even when I’m in a manual program, slider on 5 for NoiseBlock, I’m experiencing normal hearing when in calm situation but noise block seem to increase its power when there are noises around me, and I feel like my ears are blocked, then if the noises decrease, noise block seem to go back to normal.
My hypothesis is that putting 5 on the slider means 5 is the maximum for the HA. It will then gradually increase or decrease from 0 to 5 (or the deemed appropriate level of noise block) according to the noise it detects in the environnement. Am I right in making this statement ?

If it’s how it works, then I know how to fix it but I can’t find any info to confirm this

Just sounds like AutoSence is working in the background.

Even if I’m in a manual program ? (Fully independent from auto sense, or at least it’s supposed to be)

Like which manual program? In target software, you could check the set up you have in each program and make some changes there to help with this, what’s the music program like, same issue?

I only have a calm situation manual program, with noise block and wind block slider both set to 4, which is supposed to be quite low

Will be adding a music program to test it out in a noisy situation tomorrow, didn’t think of this one thanks ! If the issue isn’t perceived with this one, I believe it would mean noise block is the issue right ?
