Compatible 3rd party LE Audio and Auracast devices - a technical deep dive

Hello, I have a Resound NEXIA 9 and a Xiaomi Poco X7 PRO smartphone. I can search for an Auracast broadcast nearby and I can listen to music from the smartphone or through Youtube with LE audio. Please note that the Smart3D platform only works with update 9.68.1.0. Hope this helps.

Share your experience. How do your devices work in LE mode? Do they reboot spontaneously? If notifications come to the phone, does the microphone gain of the devices get muted?

Do you know if I can use the Homespot BA210 v2 with my Philips 9050, hooked up to the TV, and have audio go right into my HAs?

The BA210 v2 supports Auracast streaming to hearing aids, provided the hearing aids also support Auracast. However, as far as I know, the Philips 9050 still awaits a firmware update to enable Auracast. So, unfortunately, the answer is no at this time.

Yes, you can, just use the Toslink, or other audio output from your tv, and pair your HAs with the BA210.
@Mingdee mistakenly mistook bluetooth transmission and auracast which is a feature for different applications.
Your 9050s support LE Audio. as well as Bluetooth LE, so you are good to go.

We have setup the HomeSpot BA210 Broadcaster v2 at Church plugged into the back of the PA mixer, and are running it in Open SQ Mode. It covers all the worship space.
While we have various brand earbuds and headphones all connecting via Auracast to the BA210, we are waiting for some people to get firmware upgrades to test out their hearing aids.
For the people with hearing aids that do not support Auracast we are giving them some over the ear JM320 headphones. (Note the comment in previous post about the bundle JM320 from Homespot not having a V2 broadcaster)
Early days, but already we have congregational members who say they are finally able to understand fully what is being spoken.
Hopefully I can convince the various audiologists around us to hurry up and ensure they stock Auracast ready hearing aids (and get people to update their phones).

I’m impressed and curious. Any idea of approximately how much it has cost for each member of the congregation it has helped?

I purchased the Homespot BA210 broadcaster bundle with the JY300 earbuds last week. It worked well connecting the JY300 earbuds to my TV and my Mac laptop.
I did have some trouble getting the broadcaster to work with my new Jabra Pro 20 hearing aids so I contacted the HomeSpot CS rep via email. He told me that Rev 2 of the broadcaster was required for the Jabra hearing aids and that the bundle included Rev 1. He advised to purchase the solo BA210 unit which was Rev 2 not the bundle. Upon closer examination of the BA210 which I purchased, I saw that the bundle actually included the Rev 2 broadcaster.

My problem was resolved when I used the Jabra app to make the connection. I never did get the Homespot QK Connect app to work with the Jabras. Long story short, I did get the BA210 working well with the Jabras and the HomeSpot CS rep responded in a day or two when contacted but his information about availability of the BA210 Rev 2 was not accurate.

The Homespot QK Connect is only for Homespot headphones and earbuds. We bought the JY300 bundle and got a BA210 V2, but got a V1 with the JM320 bundle. For hearing aids it must be an app supplied with the hearing aid to connect to the broadcast, and that App must support Auracast broadcasts. The phone running the app does not need to support Auracast, but the phone I believe must support Bluetooth LE Audio, so probably a phone released in the last few years. I am still trying to nail exactly the requirement (Eg is it LC3 codec), but don’t have enough variations at Church to know.

The Homespot JM320 headphones are quite cheap on Amazon, and for Church, the quality is enough. Not sure how long they will last. I set them up to autoconnect to the broadcast using my own phone. Others out there in terms of over the ear headphones are ones like the EchoBeatz and some of the JBL, but are more than double the cost each. We might go to these if the Homespot fail. At least the Homespot BA210 V2 broadcaster is working fine though. I expect there will be lots of other brands of headphones coming to market soon. But the ideal is for people to get their actual hearing aids with Auracast. Frustrating the companies that have been saying the hearing aids will support Auracast with a firmware update, but the update is not available still. I wonder if its the development of the Apps that is holding them back

The conspiracy theorist in me says that they want to keep selling their proprietary tv streamers. There’s also the narrative you see constantly that Auracast is way over the horizon. It will be nice to have it eventually, everyone says, but it will be at least ten years before enough public spaces have it to make it worthwhile. Yet there you are quietly getting on with it. Not too difficult it appears and a lot cheaper than putting in a loop.

My iPhone 15 Pro worked with the Jabra app to find and connect to the Auracast broadcast from my TV and Mac M1 laptop.

As of now Rexton has implemented LE Unicast audio but not Auracast. They will not tell me when they expect to implement Auracast. I must say the same thought has crossed my mind.

The ball is rolling

i use audiorelay and often then not the app will not show 2nd server (usb tethering), i have to unplug/replug my device in and alot of times i find that the connection (to phone) needs to be charging to work BTW i’m using a samsung s22u

We work a lot with Auracast and LE Audio gear, especially for group listening setups in churches and public spaces.

Really appreciate this deep dive — super helpful stuff! Just wanted to jump in and share that we’ve got a few Auracast-compatible products out now:

  • Voyager – a small 3.5mm transmitter, great for travel
  • Audiplex 4 – a TV Auracast transmitter with HDMI ARC passthrough
  • C82 Aura – a compact unit that pairs well with clip-on receivers or regular Bluetooth headphones

We’ve also got tabletop and clip-on receivers rolling out, mainly for venues like churches and gyms where group listening is key.

We’re seeing more interest from hearing aid users too, though like many of you have pointed out, actual Auracast support in HAs is still hit or miss, depending on firmware and UI.

Always happy to share real-world feedback or answer questions!
