CIC vs BTE

Hello,
i’m am looking for my first pair of HA’s and my Audi has recommended a pair of Starkey CIC aids. I have been reading this forum and find lot’s of people don’t recommend the CIC style. What are the advantages/disadvantages with the CIC style?

Hi Charlie,

Generally speaking, the CIC’s are going to give you more occlusion. CIC’s also quit working (for various reasons) more than other aids. Those are the two biggest disadvantages in my book.

I’ve never worn CIC aids only BTE’s but I have several friends that have worn CIC’s in the past and now wear BTE’s and they say they would never go back to a CIC aid again. The reasons they give are the feeling of occlusion and frequent need to be serviced and they feel they can hear better with the BTE’s.

I agree with the other guys, plus the CIC actually are more visible than the small RIC style.
