CI Rehabilitation after Activation

Welcome to the forum Ninj. What processor do you have please? As I have N8 and don’t know very much about AB or Med El.

I streamed directly to my processor for speech understanding. I didn’t use my hearing aid until 6-8 weeks post activation.

For music I just listened to it from my Sonos speaker and chose music from Spotify that I knew. Music is a very tough gig. It took months and months of listening to God awful screeching before I even began to appreciate music again.

Welcome to the forum.
Could you tell us about your non implanted ear? It can help us understand more about how to rehabilitate that CI.

I am bilateral K2.

The K3’s should be out anytime now. Are you in a position to swap to the K3? Has your audiologist mentioned the K3?

Thanks for the update.

So you had both sides done at once? I wanted to do that but my surgeon talked me out of it. Ended up 3 months apart.

I have worn N7’s and K2’s. Both sound the same to me with a slight difference in wind. The K2’s have been great, very durable with long battery life between charging.

You might contact Cochlear about the K3, not your audiologist. Usually the new releases can be swapped if you bought the old processors within 3 or 6 months of a new release. India might be different, I don’t know.

Everyone is different about hearing and learning. If you are someone that likes to read, streaming podcasts or reading to yourself out loud can be great rehabilitation. I hate to read so I used the TV streamer and watched old TV shows I knew by heart. This proves to help me a bunch.

Correction about K2 end of support, My mistake.

Oh alright!
Good to know all these details.
Yes i had it done together . Quite the opposite!,My surgeon actually motivated me to do both sides together . My surgery happened on June 24th, and activation yesterday- July 16.
Im getting some suggested speech therapy starting Monday , and my audiologist suggested some at home exercises , but i was still exploring more things i can do by myself to make speech clearer, thats when i found this forum.

Oh K2 deal is ending this December!??Wow ,I really have to ask them about this.
As of now I’m on 2 trial K2 devices. They wanted to check the stay and adaptation before giving me my original device or if the coil off is like too much ,maybe to consider a Nucleus 8 processor.
But im still very much into the off the ear versions of CI . Thus i want to stick to Kanso.

And rehab yes i will try your suggestions Thankyou!
Ive been watching some old movies i knew dialogues of and songs i knew lyrics of like you all suggested in this thread!Putting in the work!
Hoping to adapt well. Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Are these apps all in English or are there any available in Italian as well?

Hello @lello58 most of these apps are from the iPhone store. I’m assuming if the data on your iPhone is in Italian most likely a lot of the apps would be in Italian as well.

I think this is country dependent. I’ve not seen any notification in Australia that the N7 (or K2) is reaching end of life.

Are you sure that K2 is ending support in January in the USA? I thought that was just the N7.

You are correct, my mistake. I need to backtrack and try to correct this. Sure don’t want to lead people in the wrong direction.
Thanks for the correction.

The N7 and original Kanso support is ending the end of this year.

I gave you the wrong information. The K2 processors are not at their end of support in January, 2026. The N7 and original Kanso will be at their end of support at that time.
Sorry for the confusion.

Oh Alright thanks for the update!
I actually did enquire with them and they told me its not actually applicable in the Indian market but K3 is to be expected in 2026
